No, most of us realise that QSAC is already an athletics stadium and there is no way in the world it will cost 1.6B to renovate.
It's clearly far from settled so how about you save it for when the venues are finalised. But there isn't a lot of doubt that by the time the Olympics arrive we'll deliver some incredible venues
He doesnt care post Olympics, just like the AFL types advocating for an oval white elephant. They don't care about Brisbane's needs, they honestly don't even care about the Olympics or Australia's reputation, they just want Brisbane to have its own Homebush so ALF has the biggest stadium in town which will f**k our infrastructure in terms of stadiums.
That's not a bad take. I don't want the Olympics here. I think it's an incredible waste of money. What would really rub salt in the wound is a 60k oval and the Govt turning around and saying there's no money for a Suncorp capacity upgrade after the games because RL can just use the 60k new shiny "multi-purpose" stadium if they want a bigger ground. Worst possible outcome for our number 1 sport.
These days it's about who will spend the least tax payers money, as they get voted out for poor decisions.... let's see the fallout

AFL and CA are now business partners when it comes to shared facilities, tv partners (7) and believe it or not applying for government grants. On the last point I’ve seen grant applications by them as a combination for all sorts of free government money. This is a genuine concern when it comes to the bid for a new stadium in QLD as the fumblers can hide behind cricket. Border coming out and making that recent statement is just the start. The endless afl references on cricket broadcasts on 7 are no coincidence.

Well along as its doesn't cost the tax payers a cent, and can be converted to a multi purpose oval, so that we can see the dolphins use it... then I'm all for it, if it costs 6 billion then so be it
