Not yet, still undetermined as to where it should be built and at what cost. Rumors doing the rounds are, Roma St, Central St, Bowen Hills (Showgrounds), Albion Park greyhounds, and Victoria Park. So who bloody knows

no, what should happen is sell off the whole Boondall precinct and build a new entertainment centre on the gabba site.

Boondall is Awful. The Main Arena being in the CBD would do wonders for the state.
if anything does get built At Vic park it should be the Arena.

It won’t happen but if it was up to me right now I’d go -

1. Suncorp 72k refurb & Roof, Opening n Closing Olympics. Obviously all major Rectangular sports to be played here - $1B
2. Upgrade Gabba to modern day standards. Keep same if not slightly reduced Capacity Cricket and AFL Home - $200m
3. Rebuild the grandstands at RNA Showgrounds at Bowen Hills And Upgrade the Whole Site. Track n Field events held there. While Gabba is getting its upgrade AFL n Cricket will use the venue. After the games, will be used for Music Festivals, The Ekka, and its various other events. $300m
4. Brand new 36k rectangular stadium built at Vic Park. Home to A league & Super Rugby, plus mid size concerts that would be to small for Suncorp. $500m
5. Brand New Arena Also at Vic Park. Not sure on the cost of this $1.5B???

Stadium wise excluding the Arena would roughly be about $2B dollars. And with that would fix the trouble we have now with wrong size Capacity Grounds.

I can’t see how the Gabba would be big enough for a 400m running track, warm up fields for all track & field athletes in its current config. A knockdown/rebuild of an Olympic athletics stadium is really going to be tighter than a fishes asshole and gridlock Kangaroo Point, the Gabba, East Brisbane, Norman Park & Coorparoo for years. As for closing Vulture and Stanley Roads, Wynnum Rd and Old Cleveland Rds were jammed in peak hour traffic 15 years ago and neither have been significantly upgraded in that time.

They will build a 55k oval and the 20k indoor arena at vic park and hopefully lang park will get a huge upgrade with a 65k capacity and not just small cosmetic upgrades.

Good crowds in Adelaide for the cricket but I don’t think it’s 50k, there’s plenty of empty seats in the stands.must be using the GWS crowd counters
