Will that 55-60,000 seat stadium have a roof? Surely it would with Sydney's weather. How many clubs I'll relocate there if it does?

It's hard to blame Manly NRL here.

I heard on Sterlo's radio show the other night that Manly pay $50,000 per game to rent the ground off the council - that's before associated costs of hosting the game there.

That number is mind boggling. Clubs like Souths get paid to play in a state of the art modern stadium, and Manly paying that kind of money to rent a suburban ground? No wonder they aren't happy.

But, meh, f**k 'em. It's just Manly.

Just to put it into perspective, the Gold Coast paid two million dollars to use their stadium last year alone.

And yeah, I think Souths get $100'000 for every game that they play at Stadium Australia? It's certainly not an even market.

Am I missing something? There is a 45k decent stadium at Moore park that is rarely half full. Why would you replace it with another 15k extra seats? How is that going to help nrl clubs?

Good news on tne parra stadium, but only of more than the eels use it.

Seems everyone else is still stuck in either over sized super stadiums or suburban inferior stadiums? 3 x $300million and 2x $150million stadiums strategically located would have been a far better outcome for Sydney clubs.

It's insanity, Warringah council are utter pricks.

We're the only permanent RL presence north of the Harbour Bridge, our situation needs fixing badly- there's an awful lot of people in Northern Sydney, they need to be engaged.

What's the chances of the housing development to fund the stadium happening? A number of wafl clubs and the wAca are doing is similiar here in the West. Sounds like Manlys best chance. Are the council supportive of the idea?

The council generally gives into the slightest hint of residents sooking (except, bizarrely, in Dee Why, where they go in dry on a regular basis and screw over those with the few houses remaining scattered amongst the unit blocks), and if there's one thing the house owners near the Oval are great at, it's being perpetual whingers. That being said, I really hope they're ignored and it happens, there's been a few smaller boutique apartment blocks in the area built nearby and they got through with no problems, hopefully the precedent is set and a new development gets through with no issues.

The Penns seem very keen on getting developments on the club's land done, hopefully they push the council to breaking point on this and they get something happening.

Is Gosford an option?

Not if you want a permanent NRL presence in Sydney that's north of the Harbour Bridge. It's a huge area with a large population that is, in areas, very wealthy- the NRL needs a presence there, Manly has to stay. I'm not just saying that as a Manly fan, if it was the Bears still left and Manly gone, I'd be advocating for the NRL to do everything they can to keep the Bears there permanently.

Slightly off topic but do the seats in the north-east corner of Win Stadium offer the worst viewing angle in any stadium ever.

it's a waste of money. the sfs is fine. they should spend the money on anz stadium, having the seats closer, and have a retractable roof

A big stadium at Moore Park would have multiple teams relocate there, then reciprocal members rights and thus bigger crowds.

Pretty simple really.

The Moore park stadium would also likely try to steal Union tests and origin from ANZ as well

Not really. The corner itself offers a surprisingly good view. The wrap its self is a bit more awkward for the neck.

Can the first part not be achieved with SFS? Surely 45k seats is enough for any sydney nrl club? If they build the new stadium and ANZ continues to offer clubs a better deal nobody other than the Roosters will be playing in it, and Manly, Cronulla, Penrith, Wests, Bulldogs, Souths etc etc are still playing in poor stadiums.

A new stadium and cash injection from the government would give the SCG trust the financial leverage to lure teams away from ANZ's deep pockets. Tough to compete against a stadium that just operates at a loss year after year then props itself up with government money and fancy accounting.

Modern facilities, transport, and parking would also help to increase crowds

I demand a roof over Allianz...NOW!

And an underground carpark in Moore Park, with exits to Anzac Pde etc.

The current set up is ridiculous.
Thunderstorm and hail on Anzac Day...the day/match turned into a farce.

Blockbuster V the Broncos tonite...what's the weather forecast?
Yep, thunderstorms and rain.

They would get good value spending 100m on the sfs.

Gut it, reconfig a bit with more corporate boxes. New seats, new food service areas etc.

Maybe a dunedin style translucent roof.

That structure is fine as is the capacity

Exactly, the stadium is fine just a touch uo required so i do not see how a brand new stadium with an increased capacity can be justified. Especially when none of the tennants average even half of the capacity and maybe a handful of games a year get over 30k. Whatsmore the location is just crap for attracting people outside of the eastern suburbs and inner west, plus the parking and traffic is shocking as it is with any sort of decent crowd.

I think the best rugby league solution would be a reconfigured or new build homebush for ONLY rectangular codes. The nrl should be pushing that not the other BS

Any money spent on ANZ is a waste of money unless it is demolished and rebuilt.
