a mini Suncorp with a roof would be worth going to Id thinkHopefully they make it mint; a stadium worth attending just for the experience of being in it, as Sydney's CBD (or thereabouts) stadium should be.
The best stadium in the Southern Hemisphere for catering, corporate and non-corporate facilities, viewing, etc.
we can theorise about what Allianz should be all we want
we're getting a brand new rebuilt 45K seat venue at moore park & thats all she wrote
the only question is wether its built before ANZ is started or after

Loftus stadium wins council support with extra condition that education facilities must be retained
Murray Trembath17 Oct 2017, 3:45 p.m.
University of Wollongong campus on the site of the proposed Loftus stadium.
Sutherland Shire Council has agreed to support Southern Expansion’s plans to build a 25,000 to 30,000 seat stadium at Loftus for its proposed A-League franchise.
However, the council, at its meeting on Monday night, attached a new condition to those previously recommended by staff.
Bold plan: Hong Kong-listed real estate company Jiayuan, which is bankrolling the A-League bid, has committed to spending $300 million on the stadium.
The new requirement will be that all existing education facilities on the site be retained to the satisfaction of those organisations in the proposed development precinct.
Existing facilities are used by TAFE, the University of Wollongong and the Cook School for students with serious behavioural problems,
The motion to provide in-principle, non-binding conditional support was carried unanimously although Cr Barry Collier said he thought it was “a pie in the sky proposal” and Cr Diedree Steinwall said she was “not as enthusiastic” as others.
Cr Michael Forshaw, who moved the amended motion of support, said it would be “fantastic” if Southern Expansion won the franchise.
He said the council was giving “fairly basic support”, and not “a blank cheque”.
“if they get the licence, that's when the real debate about the stadium and Barden Ridge will start,” he said.
“Creating a new sporting precinct in the shire is not an impossible project and the links between sport and education are very strong.
“This a very small step for us, but it could be a giant step for the A-League.”
Cr Forshaw said anyone who thought the site was not large enough should visit WIN Stadium in Wollongong.
Provision for parking was a major discussion point at the meeting.
Mayor Carmelo Pesce said Southern Expansion told councillors at a briefing a car park would be built underground on the site of the proposed stadium or a new multi-storey car park constructed opposite at Waratah Park.
Cr Collier said he loved the game, which he had played and coached, but “my view is this a pie in the sky proposal”.
“We are going to demolish million dollar TAFE and university buildings and a school that caters for children with severe behaviour problems? he asked rhetorically.
”This is Crown land – why haven’t they been to the state government in the first place?
“They want to go to the state government and say, ‘Council supports us’.”
Cr Collier said the council could end up having to build a multi-level car park.
“Who are they kidding when they say most spectators will come by train?” he said.
“Most people will want to drive, and where will they park?”
Cr Steinwall said she had received written assurances from Southern Expansion chief executive Chris Gardiner about three concerns raised by residents – the Loftus tramway, the traffic and parking impact and retaining the education facilities.
Mr Gardiner had said the tramway would not be affected, the educational facilities would be retained and he thought the site was big enough to build in all the parking that was needed, she said.
Cr Carol Provan said, “There are a lot of people [in the educational facilities] we have to look after, but at this stage why would we say No?”
“Why not get on the roundabout and go with it,” she said.
Cr Jack Boyd said it was “a fantastic proposal” and would mean an investment of $350 million in the shire.
The proposal involved rebuilding the education buildings and adding entertainment facilities.
“We could have more entertainment facilities beyond nightclubs and the Entertainment Centre,” he said.
Cr Boyd said another plus was there would be training academies for boys and girls at Barden Ridge.
Talented young players were now having to got to academies in places like Barcelona, he said.
The other conditions endorsed by the council were:
- The stadium and related competition facilities being wholly located on Crown land at Rawson Avenue, Loftus.
- All training facilities located at The Ridge Sports Complex conditional upon existing sporting and established activity groups not being disadvantaged.
- No construction, maintenance and/or ongoing operational costs borne by council.
- The proposal demonstrating it would appropriately address all environmental, social and traffic/traffic/parking impacts.
- There being community support for the bid.
I think the number may be a bit more flexible than we think. There’s been a push back from some recently that 45k is too big, a while it’s still the likely number I get the feeling they’re at least looking at a smaller option.
Bit different, the old nib stadium had a scaffold stand with no roof! Allianz isn't too bad when it's not raining and given Roosters are likely the olnly fuutre tenants do you think they are going to be twice as popular with fans attending witha newer stadium?
Sydney fc to leichhardt oval and Waratahs to scg and parra stadium apparently.Where are Sydney Fc and the Waratahs moving to?
Allianz makes sense due to the proximity to the march.
Every little bit helps bring Olympic park alive
Sydney fc to leichhardt oval and Waratahs to scg and parra stadium apparently.
I don't think that many people do both

Economics of this seem ridiculous.
I mean I hope they can get it done, just seems very far fetched. Like a backdoor to an A-League licence and then they cancel the stadium plans once they’re in.
Allows the developer to full control of Shark Park former council land
This would actually be a fantastic site for Dragons and Sharks games but we already have too many home grounds and are too invested in that model.
If this was built in 1999 I could see 24 NRL games a season in this spot.
Anywho... this won't be built and f**k Southern Expansion
