The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Edit: from reading media reports they suggest the agreement kicks in once the rebuild is completed.

So if that’s the case the NRL probably could get away with moving in interstate.

My guess is though the NSW govt will ask for that not to happen, and I’d bet the NRL will agree for political purposes. (Especially if ANZ gets rebuilt first)

This is how i read it...

If the NSW Gov are buying 20 years worth of GFs with the new stadiums, i would assume that kicks off once the new stadium is available.

And regardless of what the NSW Gov say, it is just unreasonable to expect the NRL to play their biggest game in a cricket pitch or a 40k stadium. 2 GFs interstate wont kill the NRL and it wont kill the NSW gov

Gosh I'd love for it to go to Melbourne just for that one year.
You'd better believe they'd be rolling out the red carpet, if for no other reason, then to embarrass Sydney.
Street parades, banners everywhere, Federation square turned into a live site - they'd treat it with every bit as much fanfare as the AFL Grand Final, as it should be.

This is part of why i want i interstate for these years...

Sydney takes it for granted but we dont get to see alternatives so we never see what it COULD be.

Sydney is like an insanely hot but high-maintenance and demanding girlfriend:
Gorgeous to look at, always great for pics to show-off and spectacular when you're in the good parts; but on the flip-side even the most simple of things are hard work and you've gotta be earning good coin to keep up with her demands.

Nice! Although disturbing because I read it in Rothfield's voice

At most only one GF will go out of Sydney, they’ll insist the second one is hosted at Allianz if possible.

Depends how that $400m is spent.

I mean they’re talking a $700m, 45k seat venue at Moore Park. I see little benefit for rugby league in that.

Yeh, heaps better off with a 30 year old stadium than a brand new state of the art one. People would hate going to a modern stadium.

Anz stadium. The bit i dont understand is why wait till March 2019 to demolish an rebuild. Why not October 2018 straight after the grand final. Why wait 6 months after the grand final an demolish it a week before the nrl season starts. Sounds like a waste off 6 months off construction in the off season

Double the price of the new Western Sydney Stadium for 10 000 more capacity? Obviously trying to cater for the Eastern Suburbs toffs and leather patch brigade.

Unless ANZ Stadium has events booked in for that period (e.g. a rock concert tour). They do book the venue a fair way out, and there is no other stadium in Sydney they could easily relocate them to.

Dude, look at how little rugby league uses it.

My point is that that money would clearly be better spent somewhere else. A gold plated Allianz stadium helps the roosters 10 times a year, maybe less.

Further, the roosters would benefit more by playing out of a size appropriate stadium. 45k is not the best fit for them, it would be much better at 30-35k.

Good point. Unless there’s some big concerts booked in for that summer perhaps?

Hopefully they make it mint; a stadium worth attending just for the experience of being in it, as Sydney's CBD (or thereabouts) stadium should be.
The best stadium in the Southern Hemisphere for catering, corporate and non-corporate facilities, viewing, etc.
