If the NSW Government builds stage 2. As someone who lives near the stage 1 route, I reckon it's gonna be a white elephant - but that is going off topic

The population density of the rezoned Camellia precenict is expected to be among the highest in Aus. 400,000 new residents are expected between Ashfield and Rose Hill in the next 15-25 years.

Do we know it’ll have no roof for sure? Not like there’s detailed plans out there.

Seriously though, calm down on the SCG stuff. It’s one match, 95% of people watch it on TV.
All the pics for moore park HAS NO ROOF.
and the SCG does not deserve a GF.

The politics in this is just crazy...

With a $billion to play with, they could put boutique stadiums in 4 different suburbs and porkbarrel their way to another election win.

Instead, theyre putting it all into Moore park just to please the Trust...

Like it or not but Allianz hosts 3 full time tenants, no other ground has that.

It was always going to get a significant amount of money.

NRL expected to confirm Queensland to miss grand final

Anna Caldwell, Phil Rothfield, The Courier-Mail
an hour ago

QUEENSLAND rugby league fans have been given a kick in the guts, with the NRL on Friday expected to confirm they won’t let the Sunshine State host a NRL Grand Final.

The move has been slammed as a “Sydney stitch up’’ by an angry State Government, who had been hopeful of luring the grand final north.

The Courier-Mail can reveal that the NRL will instead give a 25-year commitment to hold grand finals in Sydney after 2019, in a move that scuttles both Queensland and Victoria’s hopes to pry the event away.

As part of the plan, the NRL grand final will head back to the Sydney Cricket Ground in 2020 for the first time in 33 years.

Tourism and Major Events Minister Kate Jones said the deal “sounds like a Sydney stitch up’’.

“I’m sick and tired of the NRL taking Queensland for granted,’’ she said.

“There is only one state that consistently delivers record rugby league crowds and that’s Queensland.”

Brisbane was hopeful of hosting an NRL grand final in 2019 or 2020 if Sydney’s ANZ Stadium was unavailable during a rebuild.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian will on Friday morning announce the $2 billion plan to rebuild ANZ stadium at Homebush and Allianz stadium at Moore Park, ending four years of negotiations over the renewal.

The rebuild of Allianz, which is currently riddled with safety issues, will begin next year, costing $700 million for a brand new 45,000 seat stadium.

In 2019 — after the NRL grand final — the ANZ rebuild will follow, costing $1.2 billion for a 75,000 seat stadium. It will be reconfigured into a rectangle.

In return for the government providing two new stadiums, NRL boss Todd Greenberg has agreed to keep the 2020 grand final in Sydney while both stadiums are out of action.

Greenberg knocked back multimillion-dollar offers from QLD and Victoria to take the game interstate when the rebuilds are under way, instead agreeing to hold a grand final at the SCG.

The last grand final at the SCG was back in 1987 when Paul Vautin captained the Manly Sea Eagles to victory over Canberra.

I hope Gladys swallowed.

I had read somewhere that the ANZ Stadium redovelopment was going to happen after the gf in 2019. I could be wrong. What I also noticed was that the Nrl has accepted the gov funding on the proviso that the builds happen on time. Any delay on Anz and they should walk.
well thats the case now
it wasn't before when the NRL insisted on ANZ being done first , at the end of 2018
now its a year later with the 2019 GF the last game at the present ANZ before its demolished
the 2020 GF will be held at the new Allianz , with the goal of the new ANZ being ready for the 2021 season
I'd like to know whats different tho ?
whats changed exactly ?
why couldn't ANZ be done for the 2020 season & Allianz a year later ?
There doesn't appear to be anything diiferent except the SCG trust got their way .... again !!

Lots of your info is wrong

2020 is at SCG
2021 at Aliianz
2022 at Allianz
2023 back at ANZ.

Chance 2022 might be at ANZ if build goes quickly

Does this investment mean people in Sydney will get off their sofas and actually go to games in decent numbers?

Shame the GF isn’t going to Suncorp, would have been good to see sold out signs for a change
lol
for a change ??
you idiot
theres been about 4 NRL GF's that haven't sold out of the 18 played at Homebush
2000.. 94,220 out of a capacity of 110,000
2006.. 79,679 out of a capacity of 84,000
2008.. 80,480 out of a capacity of 84,000
2017 .. 79,722 out of a capacity of 84,000

& with the exception of 2000 & possibly this years
one could argue every available ticket was sold & its stadium members who didn't turn up

Point is it’s a trade off.

When the govt is investing $2.3b you’ve got to make some sacrifices.

One year is worth the price
Considering they have made that ANZ is 2nd. They should delay ANZ another year so we dont get shafted with the BS that is the SCG.
And no. The SFS didnt need to be rebuild, so the NRL should tell the Government "you f**ked us over. You now lose the years we promised you due to breach of contract"
But we all know the NRL is weak as f**k.

ahhh
it won't take 4 years to build ANZ lol

If it takes 3 years and 2 months you can’t host the 2022 grand final there.

Its also not just a build, it’ll take months for them just to clear the site. It’s a huge job, made slower by the fact many things will be recycled.

It’s a balancing act.

NRL need the grand final to be in Sydney long term, otherwise they have to play it at a stadium with 25000 less seats.

If there was a 70,000 seat stadium in Brisbane then they could make that threat.
