There’s definitely a concern that Foley could cancel the ANZ development, hopefully the govt are smart enough to get the contract signed before the election. That said Foley would risk a backlash from the NRL and the grand final agreement would be null and void. If he lost the GF he’d look pretty foolish. I don’t think we’d see Sydney lose the GF on a permanent basis but 1 in 3 years could happen.
well if this Foley dope says no to ANZ then the NRL should come out and say that if you are stupid enough to vote for him then Sydney will never get another GF

If Allianz don’t re-use their big screens, hopefully they can be installed at other grounds. They’re two of the best big screens you’ll see.

Newcastle should get on the blower, better than the Parramatta screen.

If Foley is going to make those threats that of elected he will cancel ANZ redevelopment, the NRL just goes back to negotiating with Queensland about hosting the Grand Final.

Peter Beattie will be more than happy to give Queensland the Grand Final, so Foley will just find himself in the same position that the Libs were a year ago.

Now that ANZ isn’t getting renovated why can’t they just construct the new stadium nearby so it can still be used until the new one is finished? There’s enough room around Olympic Park and it can be done if you look at Tottenham’s new stadium as an example.

Not the craziest idea.

You could swap it with the athletics track.

Now that ANZ isn’t getting renovated

The Govt just spent $200 million buying it from it's private owners.
They're not going to buy more land elsewhere to build a new stadium and then demolish the existing one and sell off that land when it is owned by the SOPA anyway.
The new ANZ will be built on the same spot.

Which train stop do regional supporters from the Central Coast/Newcastle change at to hop the the Metro ?
I honestly don’t know, the stops for the Parra to CBD line haven’t all been decided.

That's correct Herb.
The stops haven't been decided yet and it certainly hasn't been decided where it will connect into the existing rail system.
One thing is for sure is that it will have a stop at Olympic Park somewhere, and almost certainly not at the existing current station at Olympic Park.
More information can be found here......... (I would suggest you head to the latest pages for more up to date information.

so about 4 bays or so
4000 seats or so out of a capacity of 112500

thats not significant

But you said the ground capacity for the 2000 GF was 110,000 not 112,500. If going by the ground capacity being 110,000 and about 4,000 seats being taken way it would make the capacity about 96,000 and the game got 94,277so not a sell out but getting very very close to capacity, curious to know whether the ground capacity in 1999 was 110,000 at the ground as the crowd figure was listed as 107,999.

oops, just checked my maths, I was taking 4,000 off 100,000 not 110,000, apologies raiderdave

Depends on the route.

There are 4 options being looked at.

One of the 4 involves a 15 min journey between the CBD and Parra with 5 stops. This option is not preferred because it has limited capacity for value capture. It will stop at both Norwood and Stratifield.

Two other options would likely include a new interchange at Strathfield North or Concord West.

Unfortunately a north of the harbour route crossing approximately following Victoria Road has not been ruled out and this would exclude Olympic Park. It would also be extremely cost ineffective because room for development is so limited and requires a harbour crossing. It is absurd that this option has not been totally ruled out.

RD is a cretin but 110,000 - 4000 = 106,000 and the ground was nowhere near full that day.

From the latest I’ve heard Olympic Park is certain to get a stop & the north of the harbour route has been ruled out.

The 15 min Parra to CBD option is still possible with more than 5 stops, one option being considered is having passing bays at stations so an express service could operate.

... the new NRL centre of excellence ...
ROFL.

They have displayed an outstanding inability to manage;
- their budget,
- expansion,
- grass roots rugby league,
- country football and- pretty much everything else.

Why does anyone think Greenberg and Co could possibly manage a Centre of Excellence? Todd would be hard pressed to manage a Centre of Mediocrity.

Perhaps a dumb question, any chance of stray crocs near mangroves?

Nah not a dumb question at all mate. There could be crocs in that area, i have seen renders where theres elevated decks/walkways through the mangroves that follows the shoreline. That might prevent the crocs coming up from the mangroves if the walkways provide a bit of a barrier. Its a tidal creek (the ocean is not far away) I personally havent seen any crocs in that part of the creek as I used to fish/crab elsewhere as a kid but its not unfathomable that there could be crocs around the stadium precint.

JT will just tell them to ‘f**k off’ though, he is the King in the North so everyone does what he says up there, wildlife included...........
