"Actual" home is such a bogus concept. Where exactly do you draw the line?

Shouldnt Souths be heading back to their ACTUAL home in Redfern? And WTs can go back to their ACTUAL homes in Wentworth Park and Birchgrove.

Maybe the Broncos should go back to their ACTUAL home at QE2. Is that place even still standing?

Broncos first home was Lang Park.

And I don’t think Adam meant the exact location, just the area.

QE2 is still standing in all it’s scaffolding-esque glory, I drove past the piece of shit yesterday. Saw an NQ v Brisbane game there in 2000 and it’s as bad in real life as it looked on tv.

Brissy did start their playing days at Lang Park though mate.......

Why couldn’t you build a stand up and over the train line and on game day encompass a station within said stand?

I’d be more worried about the other end with the houses tbh.

The train line is being converted to the Metro line in the next few years so they will have single decker driverless trains and Gladys seems intent on building high rise units along most of the section between Sydenham to Bankstown.

But it’s basically the same as Campbelltown to ANZ? In fact if you go by the quickest route on the M7 it’s closer than ANZ.

If Campbelltown was their main base I’d agree, but it’s basically their least important of their 3 bases.

I don’t think I made my point well.
Maybe Wests should play games at Parra. But it is FAR from perfect for them. Perfect would be a new stadium at Liverpool. Close to perfect would be a new stadium at Campbelltown. They should be the team representing South West Sydney.

Parramatta is far far far from perfect. It is maybe the best of serveral bad options

I agree, Liverpool would definitely be the best.

I’m really not sold on Campbelltown though, the population is difficult to win over being a new area, most people that move there already have another team.

Liverpool would bridge the gap between the inner city fans & the Campbelltown fans, but Campbelltown completely leaves the inner city fans out in the cold. And I think there’s more fans there than Campbelltown.

Given Liverpool is long odds, WSS is the place to be. They can sell themselves as the western Sydney team, not just a team of a particular area.

As good as the stadium will be, it is parramattas home ground and always will be. I remember the Sydney tigers playing out of parra days, it was a disaster.
I don't think it will be seen as Parramatta's stadium, they are already sharing it with the Wanderers. The Government does not want this to be Parra's gorund.

Agreed.
And it won't be. It will be seen as a generic stadium that caters to many teams.

western Sydney stadium. Time for some maturity and embrace an amazing RL facility that’s been created for the game. If anyone chooses to play at anz over wss their fans should riot!

And the Wanderers will play more home games there than the Eels.
So what?

So to many rugby league fans it will still be seen as Parranatta’s home ground. Reasons
a) it’s the site of Parramatta’s home ground for decades
b) it’s the site of Parramatta Leagues club
c) it’s in Parramatta

Homebush is neutral territory.
Parramatta may be a new, multi tenanted ground. But it’s Parramatta Eel territory in rugby league and it will take awhile to change that notion, if ever.

If the government offered to build a new stadium on the shark park site, do you think the Dragons would play there, or would they consider that Shark territory, given its on the site of shark park, it’s next to Sharks leagues club, and it’s in cronulla?

If the dragons would view a “Southern Sydney stadium” on that site as cronulla territory, what makes you think the bulldogs, tigers and panthers are going to suddenly think this Western Sydney Stadium is neutral?

It’s not.

I’m not arguing teams shouldn’t play there. I’m arguing that the ground will, at least for many years to come, still be thought of as Parramatta Stadium. Because it is.

Tigers are already in negotiations to play at WSS, so they are viewing it as an option.

Was always concerned with it being built in parramatta, but too late now.

Hopeful it will simply be seen as an excellent facility that’s too good to pass up. If the game day LED lighting comes through it’ll help fans of other teams embrace it.

Was there on "opening day" in 93 (50k to see them lose to Parra). Saw about 15 games there including an Origin and the SL Grand Final. After watching footy at Lang Park in 92 it felt like watching ants.

It had all the bad parts of an oval stadium with aluminium seats on a shockingly low incline. To top it off it was difficult to get to and there were no pubs close by.

I'd rate it 2/10.
