Whether or not CC Stadium is 20 years old, it's still 20k all-seater that's been maintained due to the A-League usage.

There are also plans to expand it to 25k by wrapping the top deck around.

It's a lot better than Brookvale in every possible way.

Obviously it is, I’m saying you need to weigh it against the new Allianz stadium. Which will be superior in everything but size.

CCoast rejected Manly 10 years ago

Wyong has rejected Easts already

Sydney Tigers attempt was a flop

Melbourne and Newcastle also walked away from the CC

As a CC resident I can't stand seeing CC rep teams wears Easts jerseys - rather than the sky blue and gold regional jumpers

Sounds like you’re saying there’s no hope for any team there.

So what? Take a look at the area the Dragons represent now. A bit of a drive isn't it?
This is a national competition.
If a suburban team can't cut it, expand or fall behind and drop out of top grade. There's literally no other option. Making excuses about roads isn't going to cut it when the money runs out.
This applies to any club, not just Manly.

It would be a huge shame if Manly did fold and there was no NRL club left between Sydney Harbour and Newcastle.

Thats why the Bears / CC proposal was originally put forward

Bears built CC Stadium

CC is a natural extension of Bears territory which goes all the way up the F3

But Dee Why north is still semi rural once you get away from the beach strip

I guess the question is, what would be a better supported club - the Manly Sea Eagles playing at Moore Park, or the Central Coast Sea Eagles playing at Gosford?

I'd wager if they moved next year and gave it a run, that by 2030 it'd be the CC Sea Eagles.

Not corporate support though. That’ll need to be a consideration.

Change that to CC Bears and the support would be there

Keep the Sea Eagles reference and your back to the old failed Beagles mode of operation

But that’s never happening.

Even the bears realise the ship has sailed.

So does the region want a team or only the bears? If the latter we may as well not bother.

Isn't Allianz worth a go for Manly? I mean they've pulled a couple of sub 8k crowds at Brooky this year - we are told that Manly fans don't travel but I don't think they could get lower than that if they tried - throw in the new stadium factor and they'll probably average 12 - 14k to start with but finally have a state-of-the-art stadium to play out of.

They can still train at Brooky and base themselves in Manly.

Its highly doubtful Manly will ever have the attraction of a city wide club like Souths or Wests so you'd be relying on a lot of fans being willing to travel to allianz, which they wont do as seen by most Sydney teams fans (something about busy roads). TBH they are bit screwed, they cant move and they cant stay. Best hope the sugar daddy doesn't pop his clogs anytime soon.

The NRL should give them a timeline on brookvale.

Something solid in place within 5 years or the team moves. (Not a finished stadium, just guaranteed funding)

At least that way they’re given a fighting chance to improve things and can’t say they were blindsided.

I don't think the NRL need to involve themselves.. IF they aren't up to scratch (big if, obviously), financial reality will make the decision for them without the NRL getting their hands dirty.
Of course there would be a few nutters that blame the NRL for not saving them...

Ah, the old "CC is desperate for a team, but only if we get the team that I want" argument.

The merger was always doomed to fail. A full relocation is a different story entirely.
If the 'Coast rejects a team that properly moves up there then they deserve to be left out of the top grade forever.

If Manly ever folded sadly I think the NRL would just abandon the North of Sydney to top grade, rather than either bringing back the Bears or launching a new club.

.

The new level of club funding will see most teams just limp along even if their home ground isn’t viable.

Don’t think it’s a stretch for a governing body to have a minimum stadium requirement.

Maybe.
But it would be seen as a deliberate attack on certain clubs, much like the old rationalisation criteria back in the day.
It would be followed by lawsuits and years of shitfighting.

If I was in charge I'd raise the cap to be $1m above the NRL grant at the next TV deal. That would make crowds and sponsorships matter...

Beggars can't be choosers as the old saying goes. Central Coast are behind Perth, Brisbane 2, NZ 2 for an expansion spot at the very least and probably Adelaide, NZ 3 & Brisbane 3 if we're being honest. If they don't "accept" a club that relocates there then good luck ever getting a club again.

well that hasnt been a motivator for past ten years, clubs just pleaded poverty and racked up debt.

I think we've seen this year how much difference to operations having a sht load more money from the NRL with no strings attached has made, none what so ever.
