If you have a degree in economics you’ll understand why ANZ has been good for those clubs, they’ve been guaranteeing game day revenue.

But that’s likely about to change.
Absolutely, there’s different perspectives to look at it through. From a club perspective, they generate a substantially greater profit than from suburban grounds making game days a very lucrative prospect. From a spectators/fan perspective (not looking monetarily here) the atmosphere is a shocker unless it’s a big game like mentioned before. Also from a top management (NRL) and broadcasters viewpoint ANZ isn’t fantastic to play regular games at due to the vast majority of empty seats which isn’t an ideal look for the game, which is where I think WSS will be great

A year 10 TAFE student could tell you that ANZ is a deadweight loss. Clubs with the opportunity would be better off playing at suburban grounds. Sure you can fit more people in during rivalry games and big occasions, but for a regular Saturday or Friday night game where ANZ produces on average anywhere from 13-18K would be better off being used for suburban grounds. Least that 13-18K capacity would fill suburban or lesser stadium and provide a great atmosphere. Would love to see a 20-25K Redfern Oval, Henson Park for those inner city matches and like stated earlier in this thread, use ANZ for finals, big occasions and SOO.

Fair enough, after that I think it’d be a good strategy for them to make WSS their main ground.

Ideally but I can't see Leichhardt Oval ever being completely abandoned. The packed house and tv ratings a couple of times a year should ensure that. And Campbeltown will keep its games as Wests Ashfield Leagues controls 75%. So I guess we are stuck with 3 and the country 'home' game for a while yet.

West Ashfield controls 75% but Wests Campbelltown controls and contributes 0%.

Except it isn’t reality, suburban grounds don’t draw bigger attendances than anz when used for more than the odd nostalgic game in a favourable time slot. You might prefer 12k in a suburban ground over 16k at anz but it makes no sense to drop our crowds even further than the poor level they already are. The answer isnt to withdraw to suburbia, it’s decent stadia like WSS

Sorry but you’re wrong.

ANZ stadium has been providing the clubs with a guaranteed amount of revenue, it’s why Souths chose to leave Allianz for ANZ. Clubs like the tigers actually lose money playing at Leichhardt.

However now that the govt owns ANZ this is likely to change.

I agree from a spectator standpoint, but clubs have needed the revenue. Up until this year they didn’t get enough money from the NRL to run their clubs.

I understand fans complaining about ANZ, but would they have preferred their clubs be on shaky financial ground?

Of course I’d prefer the tigs to be in a better financial position than to be playing out of say Leichhardt and Campbelltown averaging ~10k and at a financial deficit (such as manly). I was just stating about how ANZ is a poor venue for regular season games through a strictly objectionable viewpoint

Campbelltown is a dump and gets pathetic crowds. Why are Tigers persisting with it?

The area is rugby league heartland that hasn't been capitolised on yet.

It'll only likely happen if/when the Tigers move there full time.

In an ideal world, Liverpool would have a stadium similar to Parramatta for the Dogs and Tigers, but that's unlikely.

I doubt that will happen. Firstly the Balmain die hards will fight it. Even if that is overcome, why then would Wests Leagues at Ashfield continue being the club's financial benefactor? Its the same thing with those saying relocate the Roosters, it won't happen as their financial backbone is in a different location (in the Roosters case, Easts Leagues Club at Bondi Junction). Every single person proposing relocations often overlook certain financial realities. It would be the same if you proposed relocating the Bulldogs or the Eels, their leagues clubs can't and then why would they continue funding the football clubs?
