Is the 45k to do with world cup options in future or just the SCG Trust who want to maximize revenue from the odd event that can draw more than 30k?

he's talking about the journo

plus the trust only manage it, they don't own it

the same as what Venueslive do
Not quite the same. VenuesLive are a privately listed company who provide management and hospitality services to the venues the Government contracts them to.

The SCGT is a government agency which acts as trustee of the lands.

Why do they even have a trust? Why haven't they moved over to a contracted Stadium management company like for all the other venues?

Because the trust is enshrined in legislation. Takes a bit more than the stroke of a pen to dissolve.

It seems unique to cricket in Sydney and Melbourne? A quick google shows a similar scenario in Melbourne with MCG where the management deal is in place until 2042 with the MCC trust.

They would probably have to use a typewriter for the Bill.

But a quick handwritten note to the LNP members to respond "Aye" when told would do the trick.

I feel like it's gonna backfire. There's less than 3 months to get the ground ready for opening and while it's getting close I feel like it'll be unfinished.

It was reported from someone on site that the stadium must reach "practical completion" stage by the end of the 3rd week in February. That leaves 2 months for testing, commissioning and certification to take place. Of course, there will be ongoing works as "practical completion" does not mean completion.

My opinion is that it will be tight, but they'll get there.
Normally new stadiums have a reduced capacity test event. I've not yet heard of anything planned, at this stage.

SCG Trusts only desire is to not lose its 15k of seating for its $10k or $4k paid up SFS members

If capacity is reduced to 30k then its only 15k tickets for the public

Not necessarily, a workaround is abolishing the trust. It’s been talked about by many.

Another workaround is changing the by-laws to require members to book seats.

There’s only currently 7800 members, not 15k. And mostly the members area is only a half full.

Why not limit the trust to the scg and put the new stadium under the SMC?
Does away with the members seats issue. The MCC Trust didn't get to run AAMI when it was built.

Australia really shouldn’t be building stadiums on the basis they might be used for a World Cup one day. Despite the hopes and dreams of soccer fans there really is bugger all chance we will ever get to host one unless a government is prepared to shell out a few hundred million in FIFA bribes.
