I reckon the ends at AAMI are better than the sides. More atmosphere, better rain protection, you can see plays unfold much better and they are half the price. Id never pay $50 to sit on the 20m line again!

The ends at Bankwest are absolutely better in my opinion that the sides (at least the lower tier on the side I have not viewed a game from the upper sides). I have always preferred the sides but the ends at Parra are high and close so you get a great look at things.

I’m telling you I was 100% anti sitting behind the posts.
I hated the idea.
Only reason I did it was my mate who I go to games with could get us in a box right behind where we sit.
( long and cunning story to get free beer )
It’s really cool watching the two teams trying to cover holes .
It’s the same perspective as the players.
In my case
When someone like Fifita scores under the posts only metres from where sit it is exciting.
Your not looking at their backs all game.
Anyway
That’s just my opinion

And at half time you would change ends

Elevation and proximity makes all the difference at the ends. If you’re down near ground level you don’t get a great unobstructed view and if you’re miles back like at ANZ in its current configuration it just sucks. End stands should be elevated slightly even at the bottom tier and as steep as practical.

such parochialism. No wonder the game remains geographically confined.

This is an opportunity for NRL to go into bat for something more for the game though. You can keep the GF if you upgrade Penrith and cronulla, for example. Also wasnt the 25 year GF guarantee based on ANZ getting a full rebuild? Isn't it null and void if it is just a refurb?

I understand what you're saying but it's somewhat satisfying to see a NSW Sports Minister treat rugby league with such reverence for a change; and so he should - Victoria absolutely destroys NSW in terms of hosting regular premier sporting events and the NRL GF is the one jewel in the crown that the Vics haven't been able to snatch away....yet.

I found that refreshing to read also. I am an expansionist but I feel that politicians and the media in Sydney need to acknowledge much more than they do that Sydney is the epicentre for world RL.

Maybe we should just wait on ANZ until 2022? The current govt will still be in power, allows the game to avoid using the SCG for either the GF or SOO.

In fact if they pre planned it to start the day after the GF in 2021 then we may only have to use Allianz once too, ANZ would be finished for the 2023 GF.

I heard Jamie Soward describe Bankwest as one of the most elite stadiums in the world this morning! Its great for Sydney and exactly what was needed but lets be honest its an IKEA flat pack of a stadiums when you start comparing to stadiums overseas.

I’d say it’s pretty similar to other 30k seat stadiums overseas, my guess is you’re comparing it to the absolute elite stadiums around 60-70k. They’re always going to get more bells & whistles.

In terms of fan experience it’s a pretty bloody good stadium, no matter sections of it being prefabricated. I don’t see why that matters.

IMO the basic, “flat pack” stadiums are the ones that last the time without looking rediculous.

Suncorp, bankwest and skilled are just great simple rectangular stadiums.

Some of those American stadiums are completely munted.

Another example is ANZ, built to resemble an akubra for the olympics, but is a shitttttthole to watch sport at. But yes, looks nice from the air...

It look IKEA from the outside but once inside it could not be better (though maybe the lower deck could be steeper).

Alllianz too. Got lots of props for looking pretty... until you’re in a premium seat getting rained on.

Boring looking stadiums work because they’re functional.
