The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Why would Badgerys be too far for the Dogs? It’s closer to their existing territory than the others. Especially if public transport infrastructure that runs through Canterbury-Bankstown-Liverpool is extended to Badgerys.

It’s about the same distance as Campbelltown is from Badgery’s, but Penrith is closer.

But

From Bankstown to Parramatta it’s 15km, that’s half the distance as Bankstown to Badgery’s.

Why would they choose Badgery’s?

Isn't next to an airport generally not a nice place to live? Noisy planes coming in and out at all hours of the day/night and usually lots of industrial areas?

Doesn't seem like the most viable place to build a new city

Only under the flight paths. I’d anticipate they’ll plan non noise sensitive stuff in those areas.

Got tickets couple days ago for a mate who is not a member, Pax was 16300.

Still plenty of seats left. Lucky we have 5 more days to sell them.

What’s the point of a southern stand? There’s hardly any room there, it’d be a tiny stand. Best for the southern end is an elevated safe standing area. Cheap & will improve views.

Its the end that is in worst shape at the moment and no real hill

So its the 1st quarter I would rebuild

Eastern stand while not perfect is still adequate.

That’s why I say build a terrace there, there’s no real room for a stand anyway. Very tight.

A safe standing terrace would cost very little, it also might help attract some soccer matches to the ground.

Plenty of room behind it

Do 5-10 rows of seats a 3-5 level terrace with the shops behind it and a proper top deck ala WSS

There was a planed joint southern stand with Howell Oval but that wasn't possible, I think the problem was pipes that run underground through that area so you would need to be careful not to impact on that.

Honestly think it’s a waste of money.

Best viewing for rugby league is on the sides, any significant amount of money should go into a new eastern stand.

Not convinced there’s enough room for a decent stand anyway, could end up like the sharks southern stand.

Eastern stand should definately be the priority and something desperately needs to be done about corporate facilities.

Judging by that pic, I have a few observations.
- The end zone beyond the dead ball line at the southern end does not need to be 10 metres. It could be halved to 5 metres, which would allow the Eastern concourse to be extended all the way around to the Western Stand, without taking up any of Howell Cricket Oval.
- This may actually end up making it a reduced capacity stadium, because as we all should know, seating areas dramatically decrease capacity compared to standing areas. It wouldn't be hard to put a roof over this.
- The same can be said for the north end - enough room to extend the eastern concourse around to the western stand. Again, put a decent roof over it, and Penrith is then a decent enclosed stadium around the 20-23000 capacity mark. Enough for Penrith for the time being, but far better facilities.
- I'm thinking about 70 - 100 million when toilets and food facilities are factored in. Do it in stages.
-Then, when funds permit, Fix up the western stand with better corporate facilities to get the money back.
- Finally, I'm dreaming.

Any major upgrades won't be done there. The land opposite Cables where the driving range is the plan.
That is a rebuild and not the addition of a southern stand that I was replying to. We are talking about slowly adding to Penrith Park, not a new stadium which is highly unlikely.

Eastern stand needs replacing and their isnt much room for corporate boxes in the design of the western stand.

I sit in the southern stand at Shark park
I hated the idea at first
I’d always sat or stood on the side
Had seats on halfway for years
Problem is every point scored is at the other end of the feild - both ends.
I ended up watching most of it on the big screen.
Anyway I love it now.
When a team is attacking my end it’s awesome.
We are literally right on top of it.
I still have to watch the big screen for the other end but only half as much.
So
Don’t write off the idea of a stand behind the goals.

Not sure you can though. The WSS style ground was going to have the road between the staduim and the Paceway closed off and the ground moved slightly. That option got shut down not sure you can expand much given the location

They will not be building a WSS type stadium in Penrith, so for the last few days we have been discussing a staged upgrade of the stadium. Which I stated the the Eastern stand should be done first because it is way past its use by date, you float in and reply that any upgrades will be done further down Jamison road past the leagues club. There is nothing down there to upgrade unless they are building stands for the driving range and the discussion you were replying to wasn't about building a new stadium so your post actually made no sense.

I think you’re in the minority tbh.

If the stands on the side have a good rake, they’ll provide good views for both ends of the field.
