New base at Parkwood International
Thu 12th November, 10:02PM

The Aquis Gold Coast Titans today announced the club will relocate to a new purpose-built high performance training and administration centre to be constructed at Parkwood International Golf Course.

Parkwood International, located between Helensvale and Southport, will be rebranded ‘Club Parkwood – Home of the Acquis Gold Coast Titans’ as part of a multi-million dollar redevelopment, transforming the site into one of the best sporting and entertainment precincts in the country.

Titans CEO Graham Annesley said: “This is another significant positive step for our club as it continues to deliver on our five-year strategic plan of continuous improvement.

“Not only will our staff and players benefit from outstanding facilities, but our loyal members, sponsors and corporate partners will also automatically benefit from our partnership with Club Parkwood, which is being upgraded to a fully licenced community club, featuring an exceptional range of bars, restaurants, lounge and gaming areas together with function facilities to cater for all occasions.”

All Titans members will automatically receive membership status at Club Parkwood valued at $60. This membership features a free birthday meal and discounts on golf, meals and drinks when utilizing the club facilities.

As well as providing a modern office environment for staff, players will have access to indoor training courts, aqua therapy, a fully-equipped gymnasium, an altitude chamber and dedicated change-room facilities.

The project also includes a huge indoor sports centre where the community will be able to access a full range of indoor cricket, soccer and netball activities, while the 25 metre three-lane lap pool will offer learn-to-swim classes with separate hydrotherapy baths.

Parkwood International Managing Director Luke Altschwager said: “We are excited to form this partnership with the Titans, based on the benefits it will deliver to both organisations and our joint membership base. The Titans require a fully-integrated facility to call home and we want to attach a high-profile national sporting brand to our club to help drive community engagement.”

Mr Altschwager said dedicated golfers will benefit from a new indoor golf centre, with state-of-the-art simulators to be constructed to allow everyone from beginners through to professionals to hone their skills on some of the best courses from around the world, all without leaving the Gold Coast.

The wider community will soon be able to access a new health and medical building, offering a complete range of services including sports science, yoga studio and access to the very best in relaxation and sports massage practitioners.

But without doubt a major feature of the new precinct is that Parkwood will become the permanent home of the Aquis Gold Coast Titans with a best practice high performance and administration centre delivering facilities at the cutting edge of innovation, sports science and professionalism in the National Rugby League competition.

Mr Annesley added: “To have a purpose-built facility housing our administration, coaching and specialist medical staff just metres from our training field as part of a multifaceted community club, is not only a great outcome operationally, but it just makes perfect business sense as the Titans continue to grow and evolve.”

The project is expected to break ground next month, with a targeted date for completion of the entire development by August 2016, however, construction and hand-over will be staged to allow the Titans to move in as quickly as possible in the 2016 season.

The NSWRL has a new home at Sydney Olympic Park, right on Dawn Fraser Ave next to Stadium Australia.

Excellent news that the ARL, QRL and NSWRL all have new HQ's right next to the three big stadiums in QLD and NSW.

New Centre of Excellence for NSWRL
Sun 15th November, 06:05AM

NSW Rugby League is very pleased to confirm it will have a new home at Sydney Olympic Park by the end of 2017, reaffirming its position as the world’s home of rugby league.

The Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres today announced plans for a new $20-million NSW Rugby League (NSWRL) Centre of Excellence, which he believes will be a “game-changer” for rugby league in the State.

“For over a century, NSW has been the spiritual home of Rugby League. This complex will provide a pathway for emerging talent from junior representative sides through to the NSW Blues State of Origin team,” Mr Ayres said.

“The NSW Government is committed to providing the highest quality facilities to ensure the longevity and future success of Rugby League in this State.”

The Centre of Excellence will include a full-size training field between the Athletic Centre and ANZ Stadium, and a new building for specialised support facilities and the offices of the NSW Rugby League.

This facility will also adjoin a tunnel providing direct access to ANZ Stadium – originally built to transfer track and field athletes during the Sydney 2000 Olympics.

NSWRL Chairman Dr George Peponis said: “The Centre of Excellence places NSWRL at the forefront of sporting organisations in Australia.

“Most importantly, it is the obvious home for NSWRL, just across from ANZ Stadium, the home of the NSW Blues.”

NSWRL Chief Executive David Trodden said: “The fantastic support which the New South Wales government and Sydney Olympic Park Authority have given to us sets our game up for long-term success at all levels.

“The benefits will extend to everyone in the NSW rugby league family. Our junior players, refs and women’s teams will all have use of the facility and, at times, the other specialist sports grounds in the precinct.”

NSW State of Origin coach Laurie Daley said: “We finally have a place that we can call home.

“And there is no doubt this will improve our preparation. The access to state-of-the-art facilities at the Centre of Excellence, as well as the other facilities in the precinct, creates a wonderful opportunity.

“Having the Centre of Excellence here will add to the home ground advantage of ANZ Stadium.”

The NSWRL Centre of Excellence is expected to be completed in late 2017.

Wasn't building their original centre of excellence how the Titans got into so much financial trouble in the first place?

I think Parkwood mainly (possibly with some NRL help), but the Titans have signed a long-term lease to use it exclusively. Parkwood will be making money from the Titans but the Titans also don't have to get a loan or fork out a shitload of cash to get a COE.

...Canterbury has asked NRL officials to schedule two games at Belmore in 2016 against Canberra and Thurston’s Cowboys.

This is the perfect model for the Sydney blend of suburban and centralised grounds...

These two games will probably sell out, and the Bulldogs dont have to play low drawing teams in stadiums with 75k empty seats.

With the sparing use of suburban grounds, there is still a romantic feel that becomes a draw in its own right. Then compare that to the teams that play 12 games in these shitheaps and end up averaging 6k.

Don't think this announcement made it on here? Sticky plaster approach. At least could have made the stand full length not just between the 20m's. A proper staged redevelopment should have been drawn up like they have done with nib taking one section at a time when funds become available. All this dos is give them half a stand with a third the capacity a main stand should be.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal an artist’s impression for a new grandstand — to seat between 3000 and 4000 fans — on the eastern side of the dilapidated yet famous footy venue.
The new stand will be constructed between the two 20-metre lines. Brookie’s well-known hill will remain either side of the stand and at the northern end of the ground.
Building is planned to start in September either next season or in 2017 and be ready for kick-off in 2018, at the latest.

Well that's just pathetic. Small Super League clubs have better stands than that. This would be passable for NSW Cup I suppose.

compare it to the elevation on the new nib stand! Hopefully it is a very poor rendering of what they will end up with.

Can I suggest this bloke gets banned. Continually trolling comparing NRL grounds to his Super Rugby ground.

Plenty of staged developments in actual rugby league grounds you could have used as an example, but no you keep bringing it back to rugby union

I suggest a lifetime ban, or until Perth gets a rugby league team, which is essentially the same thing.

I thought it was a good example of what can be achieved with good planning in stages when your struggling to get funding. What's the point in redeveloping the whole ground half hearted on a small budget?

Why not knock that piece of shit southern stand down and replace it with that above one (with maybe some corporate box shit up the back?

If they are gonna f**k the hill up at Brookey, then it should be something decent. That looks like something temporary or like some of those stands the Adelaide Oval used to have a few years ago.

Cost is obviously a big factor, the nib stand cost around $60mill where as Manly only have around $10mill to spend, unfortunately throwing $10mill at is is just pouring the moeny down the drain as it will do little to improve things long term.

Anyone know of any progress on Sydney stadia. Seems an eternity since the funding was announced but nothing of substance since.

Would it surprise anyone if in 5 or 10 years time we are talking about the same issues and its status quo regarding stadia?
