The trust will want Allianz made of Gold to soak up as much possible cash as possible, including all outside areas, Gyms, pools, etc.. for members to use.. tennis courts etc..

Leave about $200k for ANZ,

The SCG Trust built the current stadium and rightfully their members have 8k seats...With the new stadium being built by the state govt will the new stadium still have 8k seats for SCG Trust members ?
The Trust "owns" the land. Will the Trust need to invest $ to get their members area and manage the ground as they do now ?

Great let’s spend a heap of money on ANZ and end up with a slightly less shit stadium than what we have now

So the bulk of the money will be spent on a stadium that needs it the least, and was originally going to get the dregs after ANZ?

The following is from the Sydney Morning Herald's website (which has a bnit more detail than the Tele)-

NSW government abandons plan to knock down ANZ Stadium
By Alexandra Smith
29 March 2018 — 12:10pm
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has abandoned plans to knock down and rebuild ANZ Stadium but will go ahead with its proposal for Allianz Stadium at Moore Park. It is understood the former Olympic stadium at Sydney Olympic Park will instead be refurbished and transformed into a rectangular stadium.

The compromised plan was presented to a cabinet meeting on Thursday morning. An official announcement is expected from the Premier at 12.45pm on Thursday.

The decision comes after sustained pressure on the government to back down on its $2.5 billion stadiums policy.

Coalition MPs have been privately expressing their concern over the policy, which has had the backing of the Premier and Sports Minister Stuart Aryes.

A Herald/ReachTEL poll last week found almost 60 per cent of voters opposed the government’s stadiums policy.

More than 53 per cent of voters also felt the Berejiklian government was spending too much on major sporting infrastructure.

MORE TO COME

Stuart Ayres royally screwed the NRL over on this to pander to the SCG Trust.

We'll know more after 12.45 pm when Gladys make her announcement.

wow this is f**ked.... i look forward to attending the GF in Brisbane...

Really shows the shortsightedness of the whole episode.. i was actually planing to go to the first GF in the new ANZ stadium, not anymore.

Reminds me of that old saying about lipstick on a pig...

How the f**k can they make ANZ Stadium a decent rectangular venue by not knocking it down??

This is totally f**ked. Allianz doesn't need to be knocked down at all.

Govt paid for the original stadium too.

Besides the trust is just an arms length extension of govt.

Maybe it'll be like one of those developments of a heritage building you see where they keep about 45 bricks propped up my a metal pole and knock down the rest..

hopefully they'll just keep the ANZ sign .....

We’ll know the type of the rebuild by the money committed to it. (Obviously)

If it’s in the 800-900m territory that’s the original plan of a complete internal rebuild.

If it’s 400m it will be just squaring off the ends to make it rectangular.

Can the field run north/south and bring the stands in closer?
