I can say a well supported club that's fans have already been through what they have, have ever right to say leave my club alone. Piss off one of the other clubs that even when we haven't made the finals in 10 years struggle to match our crowds and membership. How about that?

Sorry, but I struggle to see your point. That just doesn't seem to read coherently.

How about we move one of the clubs that can't even match the Tigers level of support despite the Tigers limping to a decade without the finals. Pick in someone else's club, the Panthers for example who rarely crack a 13k ave and have less members so are obviously less supported.

Ah, but they do have a geographical niche to themselves, ONE home stadium (which is slated for some upgrades in this plan), and a big junior catchment.

The tigers numbers are inflated by having Leichhardt members, Campbelltown members, and ANZ members. A reasonable proportion of their members get counted three times!
How many fully ticketed members covering all ‘home’ games are there? Not just ticketed at one ground but at all ‘home’ grounds?

As Robin would say, "Holy Membership-counting loophole, Batman!" :)

That is just purely wrong.

Yes the tigers have members that can choose which ground they want to attend, but they do not get counted multiple times if they attend multiple venues as there are memberships that cover multiple grounds.

If you want to attend multiple venues, you select a multi venue membership (so either just Campbelltown or Leichhardt {3 games}, one of them and Bankwest {8 games}, or all three grounds {11 games})

It is the same as every club offering part season memberships or full season memberships. No member gets counted multiple times if they have a membership for games across multiple grounds. The only thing that changes is the number of games someone attends, and how much they pay for that.

But if one chooses 3 at Campbelltown and another 3 at Leichhardt, and another 5 at BankWest you have 3 members for 11 games. If you are a fully ticketed member at a club that has only one ground there is 1 member for the 11 games.
It skews the numbers. The true count is the total number of tickets covered by memberships, not individual memberships.

Perth Panthers, just need to remove 2 letters. It works on so many levels!
Jezus Christ, this is rubbish talk, no one is moving anywhere, and if one had to go surely its a club that offers less to their respective area, thats the roosters, yes they are successful, but they wouldn't leave a hole in the sydney catchments, where every other other sydney club does, souths basically IS moore park, and unless roosters move to the north shore, then they present absolutely nothing to sydney, other than their self proclaimed name, be EASTS or be nothing, calling yourself "Sydney" when there's another 7.5 teams in sydney already is just being a tryhard, no fans, no juniors, no catchment, not nessesary in sydney, move them to Adelaide, same colors as the rams anyway.

P.s almost 19k members for penrith, not sure where you get 13k pal

I quite enjoy this battle of the big cats going on.
It's quite a genuine hate going on. Non manufactured hate is great for rugby league. Good work!

I don't think Penrith should be considered for relocation.

Maybe, just *maybe* a joint venture with Parramatta, if there's some kinda disaster that cruels either (both?) clubs, but gees that's a vast area & vast bank of juniors for one greater-Sydney club. It could make such a huge splash it may ruffle quite a few feathers!

Penrith doesn't have the over saturation issues to the degree that other parts if Sydney has - especially the inner-west where the Eels, Tigers, Bulldogs & Rabbitohs stand shoulder-to-shoulder.

That's the reason why the magnifying glass is on those 4 clubs - and especially the Tigers, because they haven't hitched their wagon to any one venue as their home.

As for the Roosters, they're the only club that's entrenched in the central city & eastern suburbs, so they're away from a lot of other clubs - especially since Souths is skewing more west these days. That helps the Roosters if Souths keep looking west (eg staying at ANZ).. but with a huge market north of the bridge there for the taking, the Roosters would be wise to engage with that market not just to broaden their reach, but as a form of "insurance" in case Souths move back to the new SFS & come back towards more of a central city footprint.

Sharks and Souths can easily swallow the minimal easts catchment, as for the "wests" teams they all have a massive catchment area, none of them in each others way, only tigers with the balmain/ryde area, but appart from that, souths train at redfern oval, literally 2 mins away from moore park, ANZ is 20 mins away, the only bottleneck of clubs is dogs, souths, dragons, sharks, and easts, thats 5 clubs in 25 min radius, so im not sure you have seen a map of Sydney flippikat, a merger with parra and penrith is stupid as they 40mins away from each other, and panthers also has catchments and pathways further west into central west NSW as far as Dubbo.
I live in Parramatta, and I'd say Penrith probably shouldn't really be classified as Sydney as much as Gosford or Wollongong aren't as they're almost that far too, i suppose wollongong is a stretch but as far as club to club distance, that South-East pocket of Sydney has 5, they're the ones who should be merging, not Wests, Parra, Penrith, or Manly

The grumble with Wests Tigers is that they are never out here in the Macarthur. Which is where Wests Magpies had relocated to (at the cost of their inner west junior areas) and where they have many juniors.

Just to put everything into perspective, here is a rough guide to Sydneys region
So when i see folks talk or mergers, or relocation, i laugh coz its fans that have zero clue about the sydney landscape aswell as distance, all they see is this clubs standings within the ladder or recent sucess, etc
All teams have major sponsors, and grants so regardless they get money whether they are in sydney or darwin, to say they wouldn't survive elsewhere from their catchment is stupid, and only serves the richer teams that don't want to have to move elsewhere.
My opinion is we need to serve sydney best as we can not have small rich clubs that don't offer the league anything back other than their own existence

And while this isn't definitely proof, and just a sketched out map of Sydneys regions and borders, whilst most of it exaggerated, like manly in the north shore and stretching to the hawksbury. it still highlights, that bottle neck of clubs in the inner southeast,
I would negate the dragons as they play and represent wollongong, aswell as parra, penrith, wests or manly from ever merging, even the sharks have a good footprint. That small blue area there thats the roosters, basically non existent, yet we accept that they are "SYDNEY", and shouldn't be in any conversation about mergers or Relocations, dude they are the First ones to go, like i said Souths do a better job of being the all round "SYDNEY" and are training 2mins away from the SFS!
