Souths back at the SFS would be very nostalgic for sure. It makes no sense for them to be playing out of Homebush.

They moved to ANZ in 2006....christ, I didn't realise it had been that long. They were tenants in the SFS from 88-05, minus the 2 years outside, so almost on par with each other.

That’s just the centre of Liverpool. It is a lot lot bigger than that and with the new airport being in that area - it will be the third CBD of Sydney in the future. There is a report on the 3 CBD’s in a report on the future of Sydney

Liverpool does not have a team. What a waste off a stadium.

Putting a stadium in Liverpool might actually force a long term strategy. Canterbury to take Bankstown, Canterbury and Liverpool, Tigers south of those areas.

Penrith is ok considering further growth in that area.

What does Brookvale Oval offer? It’s a straight jacket. They should rid themselves of that ground once and for all

It was f$&@ed before that decision tbh. The side top tiers were built too far back for rectangle sports, the only way to solve it is
to knock it down. Bringing the ends in only
solves half the problem.

Yep, when you add up SOO, finals, Union tests and big soccer matches the demand is there, plus it can be used for concerts. But it also underlines how the ideal is a design that can cater to smaller crowds with the upper tiers closed and not feel like a morgue.

I can only see it being used for SOO, NRL GF, Bledisloe cup and events of global significance like world cups etc. Maybe the odd prelim final featuring 2 of the better supported Sydney teams.

The new SFS will be suitable for all other Sydney based tests the Wallabies play and in regards to the socceroos, their standard qualifying games within the Asian Confederation don't require anything greater than 45k. Maybe if they have a play off to make the world cup or some marquee friendly then ANZ might be appropriate but don't forget they are truly national so the MCG is a viable option.

On tenanting of the new SFS, I see souths going there in 2023 meaning it will have roosters, souths, Waratahs and Sydney FC full time.

I believe that ultimately Manly will move there close to full time with only a couple of retro games at Brookvale. I can also see a world where saints take their Sydney based home games there as well.

If any of those scenarios do happen what we need to do is ensure reciprocal members rights for fixtures between those teams at the SFS. Roosters/souths for example should never get under 30k there under that scenario, make it an event. That might entice a club like the sharks to take a game or 2 there as well. It also allows those clubs a bit more flexibility to take other games to the bush or perth etc. knowing that their members will still have access to 12 games at the SFS.

Thats not the issue

Footy finishes at 10 pm

On some lines your next train runs on the hour till midnight. Miss it and you sit on a platform before a 2h regional trip home

And thats when trackwork is not occurring

It become a 2-3h trip compared to a 1h after hours trip on quiet roads

Liverpool sounds great on paper but can Tigers really be trusted to stay and play there full time? How many games will they move to Leichardt and elsewhere?

If them and Dogs each play at least 9 home games there each year even allowing for moved home games due to regional and magic round arrangements then sure but I don't think either of the boards' have the balls to make such a commitment.

I agree to an extent about Manly but it's already getting a partial upgrade so you may as well just go the whole way with it.

27-30k stadium in Penrith with the population growth and surrounding developments is a no brainer. The club and the area is going gangbusters and capitalising now with all that momentum could create something truly special for the area and the competition. Seems like the govt is on the same wavelength so thats good.
