Don't think they'd release this unless it was in the advanced stages, like pretty much set in stone. Guessing they're putting out this to do a temperature check with the fanbase.

Great news for the NRL in general and for Souths fans, I think it will be a much better atmosphere and experience for them. Another team in a high quality rectangular stadium. The more teams that are, the more the clubs that aren't, stand out and it puts pressure on the government/club to find a solution. See Andrew Barr.
It certainly came from left field. The article reads to me like "we're moving, and here are the answers you want so you don't all bombard us with the same questions when it gets announced".

Blake solly should just admit he made. A mistake signing a new lease at Accor rather than trying to blame the govt for reneging on stadium upgrades (which he knew about and was ok with on a reduced rent)

Albanese getting involved helped get it over the line

Only have to look at not just how Roosters Crowds have increased by the variety of people attending the new ground has helped.

This is the kind of shit that will give the Bunnies Crowds a real boost.

Roosters in their last year at the old SFS in 2018 averaged 15,682 - Which I would regard as a better stadium than Accor is currently.
Which boosted straight up to 22,898 in their first full year at Allianz in 2023. 23,364 in 2024 and 24,680 so far in 2025.
By most metrics Souths are coming from a greater baseline of support. Could they average 25k in down years and 35k in up years?

Thank baby jesus if this is true. From what I hear it is a done deal, if not thats a lot of detail for something not happening.

Cold one or two at the Juniors then a tram up. This will be great for Souths corporate as well. I think its a positive move for the NRL esp targeting the hip inner city crowd that mostly go for the Swans. Its a brilliant stadium and needs more NRL usage.

Yeh those numbers are realistic

That would make two Sydney clubs over 30k, roosters and eels not too far behind

Manly dragons and tigers could get a good crowd bump taking home games v roosters or souths there

Tigers will lose money by not taking games to Commbank, so maybe they sign a short term agreement to play 8 games at Campbelltown. Possibly by the end of the agreement Campbelltown gets an upgrade.

Tigers should've prioritized Campbelltown from a long time ago. A breakdown of home games like six at Campbelltown, three at Leichhardt and three at Commbank or Allianz. And go to the state government and say to them,

"we realise that you can't significantly upgrade every suburban ground, so we choose Campbelltown to be our main home, and for Leichhardt to have funding for female amenities and general safety".

Instead the Tigers tried to please everyone to their own detriment.

Yeh that tweet says Tigers won’t commit to more games there in an exchange for an upgrade which if true is pretty ambitious if not delusional negotiating. Campbelltown isn’t getting an upgrade if Tigers may only play 4 games there like this year.

They should keep some games at a bigger stadium with better corporate facilities, I’d go Allianz for that as it isn’t far from Balmain territory but Commbank works too, play Easter Monday at Accor every year.

A lot more SCG members would be Roosters/Swans fans, than Rabbitohs fans, which would limit our crowds somewhat. I'm just keen for a better viewing experience.

Great news for Souths if they’ve gotten out of their Accor contract. The more clubs that play games there the more it can be normalised too hopefully. As of the end of this year Roosters, Rabbitohs, Dragons, Tigers & Bulldogs will all have used it for a home game.

Not suggesting any of the following move there full time but Dragons, Manly, Tigers & Sharks could look at a game or 2 there each year. Sharks V Dragons, Dragons V Bulldogs, Manly V Bears, Tigers V Rabbitohs etc all wouldn’t look out of place at Allianz, plus Gadhu Gathering.

Roosters, Souths and the goodwill around the Bears return could help turn the tide in the Eastern and Northern Suburbs back to RL
