He's served his purpose. His job was to stabilize the game from the SL war. Time to be proactive and move forward with a proactive leadership.

Agree 100%

Some minor faults sure but overall a huge success.

Record crowds, record viewing figures, a game that has healed itself from war. Set up the IC to take the game foreword and has set the new commision up to make a fantastic media deal soon.

Did not pander to the 'superstars' who left league for dollars and in doing so protected the games long term future as opposed to Rugby union who almost bannkrupted themselves paying for stars rather than sorting there game out at club level.

Handled the yearly scandals competently in his quite lawyer fashion. He was the right man for the job at the time. Now of course it is time to move on and get some one else.

Thank you Mr Gallop

Gallop was a defensive CEO, a classic middle manager. His main job was to make sure things didn't get worse and keep the plates spinning - trudge around the place putting out spot fires.

The NRL needs an offensive CEO. They're in a position now where the upside is too great to stick with Gallop, as he's not going to take them to the next level. They need someone with vision and aggro. Not a lawyer.

He has done well guiding the game, but has been a poor figure-head and failed in the TV deal negotiations.

Fair dinkum - the ultimate contradiction.

Guiding the game - how? where?

Poor figurehead, failed TV negotations. Oh - is that all?

I bet you one thing - News Limited got every cent of its $8-10 million blood money from rugby league every year - plus remember the tens of millions of dollars new Limited saved due to the ordinary TV deal.

So Demetriou, but less corrupt?

Demetriou's not corrupt - he has many bad qualities, but that's not one of them. They bloody pay him well enough not to be. Demetriou is also standing on the shoulders of the giants who came before him.

If you're looking for a role model, think more Pete Rozelle and Ross Oakley. They had vision and the political smarts to be able to get warring individuals and factions to knuckle under a grand plan to set their sport up to be the dominant code in their countries.

I'm no Gallop-hater but his inability to secure a lucrative TV deal last time will forever taint his legacy. Someone mentioned him being a defensive CEO rather than offensive - it may be a simplistic notion but it sums him up pretty well.

It is time for change once the ARLIC assumes control of the game. Gallop has been in the job for ten years...thanks for your services Dave but it's time to move on.

Your team is still around ass wipe, the only thing he has f**ked up is letting c**k suckers like Watmough and a couple of other choice Manly players get away with criminal acts.

Last TV deal was a disaster that will mean he can never be rated as any better than 6 out of 10. However, when you stack him up against Geoff Carr you can't think that he is the worst possible of all options as CEO.

Good riddance.

The game has gone backwards under his regime. Whenever the sh*t hits the fan he never passes up the chance to get his fizog on the goggle box and it's all been reactionary. In fact the bloke is so good at grandstanding he should've been standing for State Parliament

It'd be interesting to have a media student review how much he is on TV talking down the game or responding to negative media compared to Demetriou. It does seem that he is very keen to get in front of a camera at any opportunity.

Piss him off.

He's been in there long enough and if he's the reason for all this stalling then POQ please.
