I don't think Tolman's there for impact, but solely to cover defensive fatigue in the back end of half, he's suppoooosed to be the defensive glue we've been missing, and he did really well I thought, but were a couple of dud moments.

Bomber's got a difficult job of balancing available forwards with the bench, and I think there's a few realities that need to be grappled with in balancing the interchanges, i'm sure he's sweating on Talakai's return
That’s exactly my point - Tolman has a very specific role to play, which he does very well, it’s certainly not his job to come on and add impact, change the game, raise the tempo etc, so you then need that from at least 2 of your other subs - we had no lift from any of them. I wouldn’t even be against Tracey coming on as 13 as a runner around the ruck. I just think Morris got it wrong this week, Magoo and Tracey were a waste of 2 bench spots.

Good to win

Got a bit lucky i think

Middle D was terrible in that bit where magoo and Williams were on

How they got picked ahead of andrew is betond me atleast he offers some forward momentum and an offload etc

1 run for 3 meters
Billy magoo

Tolman did fine
Tracey...not alot

Chad was good. So was moylan
Kennedy is good in attack but has errors

Getting a first up win is a bit strange. However if we didn't beat that mob of spuds it would have been diabolical.

The advantage of little personnel change is cohesion and it showed that they had played together. Good control for the most part. Middle forwards laid an early platform. Halves looked sharp. Brailey and Kennedy added spark.

At 14 nil, it could have and should have been a cakewalk but no, Sharks will be Sharks. The lack of killer instinct to put that game away is part of what keeps this a mid table team.

As has been noted, bench was odd. Magoo has no role with Tracey as utility. Will be stronger for Talakai and Hunt. Tolman was Tolman. He will do a professional job. Williams ran hard and made good yards. The Dufty try was annoying with Tolman and Williams too loose in the middle.

Next week will be a good test. Canberra look strong.

Tolman was the one that missed Dufty's break. I thought it was Williams, who I thought had a decent game and was the only player to offer impact off the bench.

Duffy is one of the most dynamic open field runners going around....won’t crucify either Tolman or WK for being beaten by him. Both had pretty sound games overall.

Have to agree with this.

I do not think the Nathan Gardner comparisons are fair...

Dufty has proven himself to be better...

I think Bomber has a lot to be proud of with that performance. The team looked fit and fast. They have obviously focused on a lot of the little individual problems that we all cried about in here too.
Woodsy was unreal, wish he would f**k that headband off though.
Kennedy looked a real threat every time he had the ball in attack and looked every bit an NRL fullback.
Nikora, did a lot of dirty work made some great runs and defended well.
Wade, looked real good and was looking to start a fight with everyone he tackled.
Chad, made use of the space in front of him and ran at them for as many metres as possible when kicking (very SJ like)
Moyza looks fit and had some good touches as well as put a couple of shots on in Defence.
Thats just the blokes I picked on mostly last year.
Unfortunately The bench lacked no punch at all and we nearly lost it with Woodsy, BHU and that lunatic T.Rudolph off the field at the same time.
A fit bench of Talakai, Hunt, Fifs and one other big unit would be awesome.

Agree regarding the bench. Talakai, Hunt, Fififta and Tolman would be my bench.

Start Tolman and have BHU come off the bench possibly. I agree with you except who do you replace BB with if injured? Talakai can cover centers, Wade can cover halves, who covers Dummy half?

Apparently Kennedy was doing some training at dummy, so maybe there's a shuffle there if Tracey isn't selected.
Doesn't seem bombers first choice though.

IN the first half i felt we were getting screw with no 6 again calls, then randomly the dragons would get 1.

We completed 35/40 at 88%, that will get the job done especially in the rain this was good.

3 ruck infringements and 1 penalty conceded... who are these guys :)

You can tell they've changes things up defensively too. More compressed in the middle then adjust when they go wide. Communication seemed massive.

There was one play where they went down Dugan/Ronnie side and the old Ronnie might have come into help Dugan out and leave the winger unmarked but he stuck on his wing and they forced an error.

I think they all would have gotten a lot of confidence that they changes in the off season paid off.

Went right up the inside of Williams as well who every year is lazy and a liability on his inside.

Was walking back in defence a lot when I was watching him.

Lazy lazy defender. Game is too fast for him.

i don’t think you should have a bench based on a single player getting injured. You just adjust and make donif you have too. Even when we’ve had a utility on the bench they generally suck just as much as a back rower moving into the position etc.
