Game day vs storm

I've been watching it and noting on it for a long time now. Although I didn't hear it on last nights coverage it has been a common factor for certain commentators to say the bloke runs with the big bumper bar out front.

The "Easts" big bopper does it regularly also.
Twas just watching the Rorters -v- Warriors game. Only the opening minutes and Blocker and the other Commentator have JWH with the big bumper bars up.

Some poor bloke comes realing out of the attemped tackle.

Storm exposed the Sharks right edge with their first 4 tries coming through that channel. They ruthlessly exposed the Sharks weakness. Nikora was out, pushing McInnes to an unfamiliar edge defending role and Katoa out bringing Hiroti in. This edge didn't work well enough as a unit and Munster destroyed them. Hynes, McInnes and Ramien taking dummies was poor. The coach would have drilled them on that. Olam against Ramien was a good contest but Munster's brilliance was the difference.

The quick hands from the Sharks left edge was brilliant. Talakai's passing to Ronnie was sublime. Ball control was good overall but when Willams made an error they ruthlessly exploited it to shift momentum.

Melbourne showed the extra gears the top teams have from finals experience that Cronulla need to develop. At round 6, it's not surprising that there is plenty of improvement left.
Agree with this and your previous post.

By my reckoning, we left 2, maybe 3 tries out there that should have been scored. Then Dale out early, McInnes defending out wide (he needs to be in the middle), some questionable calls and a few moments of individual brilliance (that we should have stopped) was the difference. I actually thought we dominated them for long periods, and on another day, we get the win.

The Storm had lots go their way - some very helpful yardage penalties (the McInnes ‘hip drop’ was an embarrassment), it felt like the ref was constantly looking for a reason to penalise us, yet we got VERY little. We had them under the pump a fair few times, going nowhere until they got a leg up. And once they’re starting a set in your half, they’re lethal.

All part of the learning journey - hope we’ve not emptied the tank for Manly.

Kennedy is scrambled.

He probably should have been HIAed after the Arsaola Solomona hit. He just feilded a kick and stood there, then gave a hospital pass and was asleep on Grant's try.

Heads not right IMO

Of course, he pulled the old shoulder injury to avoid a HIA which is another blight on the game. Burners every game game, every weekend.
He didn’t pull anything, well not his shoulder atleast.
He’s had padding on his shoulder for a few games now so fighting some niggle that the giant grub made worse

Just watched it, was a strange game! Thought both teams played well great attacking open RL and reasonable defence. But then if Olam kept hold of it it would have been 40-18 which in no way seemed to reflect the closeness of the game!

So how did a winger, who was basically solid, not great, but not bad either, get the vitriol that he does? when the others contributed more to the loss.
Honestly, do people here actually have their own view on the game, or is just a group attack? its really bizarre.

Reckon if Finnucane stays healthy we go close. If Munster doesn't play we win comfortably. The fact we made 9 line breaks against the Storm indicates we're doing things right in attack. Seeing Sifa keep developing his game at centre is awesome. Has a sharp pass on him too. A stack of positives and plenty of lessons from that game

Yep Nico is a shaky kicker and he's got a few turnstyle plays in him. Hiroti did a job but I hope Katoa is ok. Or Iva for that matter.
He seems to plant his feet and gets wrong footed a lot. Happened when Shaun Lane burnt past him for their try. Happened a few times too but has only cost us twice but it’s still costly.

I’m putting it down to still adjusting to being in the defensive line so hopefully it gets worked on

There was a easy 8 point turnaround in 2 minutes.
In half time Nico misses easy penalty 2 pts.
Straight after half time we let ball bounce into touch from kick off storm try and goal.
8 points.
Should have been at that time 12-10 and we scored next, not to say we would have but.
That 1 minute either side of half time was where the game changed

Yeah true but that whole side was dysfunctional and lacked trust. Missed Nikora's speed covering up from the inside which he has become better at.

That first Storm try had 8 Storms coming at 5 Sharks with Tolman and McInnes 2 of them who were dawdling. There was no sign of Kennedy either. Ramien going for an intercept, Hynes sliding on 3 players, Hiroti covering Meaney and Olam. It was a real mess.

So, not just Hynes, who didn't miss anyone in that play, but the whole right side.

Hiroti did the right thing in their first try. He went with Ramien so they were at least working together. They were beaten by a Munster double cut out. It looked bad with Ramien going for the intercept and Hiroti jamming but Hiroti did what was supposed to.

Agree with points raised about Hynes. Defence is a work in progress. He seems to carrying a sternum injury or something similar as he always goes low and has missed a few one on one's without laying a hand on the attacker. Again, it's part of his learning curve.
