I think your right, and we will soon realise we can't win and that's when you drop from the 8.
Fitz is too loyal to some of these players

I've had in the back of my mind to post a thread about this the past few weeks.
Fitz seems hellbent on "improvement from within", which is all well and good, but you also need to tweak your squad and freshen it up.

Next year he better start bringing in some of the young guys and easing dead wood out the door.
Sticking solid with the same guys who are there or thereabouts for the past few years is a recipe for disaster.

Ask the Eels and Rabbitohs fans.

Who is there though. Stonestreet, Colquhoun, Dykes. Who else?

Totally different scenario to Eels and Rabbitohs. We are till competing with this squad, we just need that added influence, those teams tried to build too fast without concern of collapse.
Business one-on-one.
Build the foundation, then add the cherries on top

Frenzy.

Thought we did well enough, we got nothing in the second half, as far as I can tell we got two shots at em we iced both of them but our defence was lacking. We need to learn how to play finals footys nicho went for a pack of smokes at half time
Didn't earn anything in the second half. You make your own luck.

Get ready for another straight sets exit
That or the week after. They remind me of so many Shark teams of the past with players who dominate during the season and then choke or do stupid shit during the Finals

Nicho can't hand the big games or big moments, obvious. Highly skilled choker. That's why early season he shines, no pressure. DA has proven a cool head and a clutch player.

I was so convinced that this year we would be competitive in finals footy but now I'm in the "acceptance" stage of mourning another season.

Need a rabbit out the hat Fitz.

From the whistle we where never in it, Sutton deliberately threw his whistle away there was no momentum to play the ball quickly, Storm constantly laying in the ruck, non existent 10 metres foward pass that led to a try, the game is a joke.

Those games are rare. Melbourne made 2 errors all game and had proper, legitimate momentum for probably 70 mins of the game.

We only made 4 errors (26 from 30) - which is not too bad considering one was off the kick off.

we had (from memory) only 2 opportunities in their 20m and scored both times. I can’t remember an opportunity in the whole second half in good attacking field position. We earned one chance when the storm lost the ball in the play the ball, but enter the bunker. Horrible call.

we weren’t as bad as the scoreboard suggests. They were just ruthless and almost perfect. We had no chances, and the scoreboard blew out after all the momentum, field position, repeat sets, and tackling we had to do.
Great post - makes alot of sense and made reading the game day thread somewhat bearable.
Whether you like it or not, Melbourne were outstanding and we were sub par. Blame the refs, blame Nicos hair, Blame Ronnie, Blame Williams, blame blame blame.
We just ain’t as good as them or Penrith.
