But he will get no criticism for it. If Hayne had missed those tackles, everyone in the media would be talking about his defence is not up there with Slater et al.
Seriously though, who cares what the f**king media say in these circumstances? Maybe the media just don't see everything through Jarryd-coloured glasses? Jarryd, Inglis, Slater et al. are/were all great players, and all different in style. If you ask a bunch of neutrals whether they noticed any excessive criticism of Jarryd's defense, I reckon you won't find any more ayes than you would with other star players.

We are on the same points as last year at the same point, so how are you right so far?
Haters? How can anyone hate anyone they don't know? Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they hate you.
I hope you are right, i want to more than anything for this club to be successful!
Watching the game again today (3rd time!) I can't get enough of the first Robinson try. That play from one side to the other was perfectly executed, good hands, excellent decoy runners and beautifully finished. One of the best set plays I have ever seen us execute in years. Well done BA.
That move really did my head in. Was wondering how far out of left field that came from. This was not the Parramatta Eels I'd come to know since 2011 onwards and with no Jarryd Hayne. I was completely blown away by that try. It had me wondering what kind of drugs our players were all on. As a team try, that was as good anything I've seen for thirty years.
Mate, you have forgotten Poo Poo is on here.It really was like a training ground move against invisible opponents. You rarely see a traditional backline formation standing that deep, and everything playing out as smoothly as it did. I can't remember exactly what happened in the move now, but it reminded me of a play with the old 'inside' and 'outside' centres that we used to run.
i reckon hayne was so naturally gifted that he did all he did without the need to go hard at training etc - so he probably came across to others as laid back and not as hard working .... so that may have rubbed off on other players and maybe they didn't push themselves as hard cos they saw that the best didn't need to so neither did they - plus i don't think hayne urged others on - he was more about his own game
but i think guys like watmough and foran do have to work hard and do urge others to do the same - so from a leadership perspective if people follow them then they work hard too
hayne was just being himself - he probably didn't even know he needed to get others to work harder - maybe he doesn't understand that it isn't as easy for others
just my 5 cents .... but hey, I'm not there so I don't really know
Agree 100%
You hear the cliche about how some of the greats make players around them better, and it's obviously true. But it never applied to Hayne. In fact there's evidence that he made the players around him worse.

No you can only be proved wrong with them. Otherwise how right or wrong anyone is just comes down to opinion. You said you've never seen me admit I was wrong, but when have you ever admitted you were wrong? When does anybody? And if they did, who's to say their admission isn't wrong? It's all opinion mate.
Because we've lost a huge amount of talent (Hayne) but have won just as many games. Plus we beat the defending premiers whereas last year the defending premiers smashed us by 50 points. In 2014 we were still quitters. We aren't so far in 2015, even though we have plenty of excuses.
Because they think they know you, or they hate what you represent. Look how much hate politicians get. Every merkin thinks they know them, and think they know their motivations.
No, but if they look for every opportunity to disagree and tell you you're wrong, and then complain that you never admit when you're wrong (like it's some kind of competition), then they're probably haters.
Honestly, why would you single me out for never admitting I'm wrong? Nobody ever admits they're wrong on the internet, and why f**king should they? That's what haters are for.
I don't really care to be honest. Knowing me, if we ever win another premiership I kind of feel like my work will be finished and I'll lose interest in rugby league.
Wouldn't that then be up to the coach to manage the expectations of the other players? Why is he getting paid so much to be in a powerful position if it is Haynes job to pull the other players into line?
I've worked with people who were better than me and got away with shit purely because of how much of an asset they were to the company, I never cried like a bitch! I got myself to that position where I am now that person......
It's not Haynes fault that we sign soft merkins who are allowed to be mentally soft because of our poor culture from top to bottom.
Arthur seems to be turning it around better than his predecessors but you can see the lingering effect is still there, Hayne or no Hayne!
I'm wrong all the time. I thought we would have a record score against us last night and posted it yesterday. Today I posted that being wrong never felt so good.
To be honest, you pretty much comment on every post someone makes, so it isn't like anyone is singling you out, the sheer number of posts you make and in retaliation to someones opinion is going to lead to differing of opinions.
I'm going by my experience in the army. Where even though the officers are talked up as the leaders in the organisation, in reality the leadership is provided by the NCOs. This is because they're the only ones able to actually set the example (which is true leadership) because they're 'in the trenches' with those being led. Think of it as the difference between leadership and management. Obviously there's always some overlap (the best managers are also leaders and vice versa) but the coach is far less able to lead by example because he's in a different job.
Well organisational behaviour is about lowest common denominators. The 'average Joe' (for that industry) is far more important than outliers - I never responded much differently to good leadership either but I knew it when I saw it and I respected it because I saw how most people improved under quality leadership.
No I t's not Hayne's fault but someone as influential as him needs to be part of the solution. Otherwise he's part of the problem. Hayne needed to lead or follow. He was far too high profile to try and stay outside of that.
Actually I haven't seen us give up this year. Last year we did it as early as round two and we were still doing it in round 25. Looks like things are different in 2015.
I also said I thought we'd get smashed, and I didn't admit this until after we'd won. So there you go.
