Gasnier's Commitment to the Dragons

So now its more than 'merely an example'?

As I say, its an example, but an important one.

And again, this is open to opinion. Gasnier is arguably the best centre in the game.
You're trying to tell us that Elford is better.
Would that that be it in a nutshell?

No. Gasnier is clearly a better player than Elford. But Elford's contribution to his club and its sucess this season was greater than Gasnier's all things considered, especially given the quality performances in the semi finals which naturally are the most important stage of the year when it comes to making a contribution to your teams premiership (or lack thereof).

'Directly contributed' lol. OK. So are you saying Gasnier is blame for Saints not making the Grand Final?

No. But a serious defensive blunder on his part lead to one Tigers try, and he was completely anonymous all night in attack - thanks to some great defence from his opposite number. Not exactly a starring role in the most important game of the year.

And are you saying if Elford was missing (as he was on numerous occasions in 2005), Wests Tigers would not have made the Grand Final?

Not necessarily. Although - hypothetically - had he not played in crucial games eg semi vs Saints I think we would have struggled to replace him.

To the contrary Willow

You were the first to venture a hypothetical

However I understand that "if" is a word that many Saints fans will be relying upon when they reflect on season 2005

See you in round 1 ;-)

Despite what others may say about 2005, I believe WT were worthy premiers. Remains to be seen if they can shake off the premiership hangover in 2006.

Elford owned Gasnier in the semis....as did Richards and the ragdoll he put on him.

BUT......IMO Gasnuer is the most dangerous centre in the game, and he completely owned the Tigers in the first round. We had Saints by the short and curlies in that game and he turned on one of the finest displays of centre play I had ever seen....and turned the game in a matter of minutes.

On his day this bloke is scarey.......

I dont think he is being compared at all......he was better than Gaz on the day and it helped us knock out their biggest weapon and propel us towards the GF.Which may I remind you we won.

I know a lot of Tiger fans considered this game the real GF,I know I got more satisfaction out of putting Saints to the sword than I did the Cowboys.

And just for the recoprd,no one is saying Elf is better than Gaz.
