Free speech and homophobic skits are two different things, It's similar to defamation the way they were portraying gay people, the fact they included Ian Roberts whilst degrading gay sexuality I wouldn’t blame him for suing, I hope he wins.

How were they making fun of gay people??

Surely even the most simple of minds could see they were making fun of bogans.

Agree Mick. Next time someone takes the piss out of male models who are endowed like John Holmes & play football like gods, I'm going to take it very personally.....

If they validate this in court (which would not surprise me), then it is censorship to appease a minority group, which seems to be all teh rage in this left wing moral crusade, which is doiung nothing more than creating a police state.

Scary times, unless you're a minority or communist.

I think we should stop the Men of League calendar.

Firstly...these dudes wont have anything to bat off too any more.

Secondly...it turns human beings into objects of desire, and personally I find that very offensive.

Thirdly...it'd be funny as hell to see Witty chuck a tantrum about not being able to see his boys.

Correct me if I'm wrong but they didn't say anything bad about Ian Roberts. All they implied was that he was Gay, which again correct me if I'm wrong, he is.

I thought that to defame someone you need to say or imply something that it is incorrect and creates a bad impression of someone. I don't hink this skit did that to Ian Roberts or gay people.

People these days seem to be a little to precious. What's next, Fat people suing TV stations and newspapers for defaming them because they are overweight.

How about we just make humour illegal altogether? Every joke needs someone to make fun of, otherwise it doesn't work. If you find something offensive, you DON'T HAVE TO WATCH IT.

I find Queer as Folk offensive - but do I make a big hoo-ha out of it? Do I lodge an official complaint and sue the creators? No...I change the channel.

In all honesty, the reaction of everyone here, apart from the moral crusaders seems to be "get over it." Would everyone here dislike Ian Roberts if he'd taken the joke, said how funny it was and maybe thrown something back at the Johns brothers? Everyone would be applauding him and saying what a champ he was for having a sense of humour.

Instead, everyone believes he's a touchy little princess.

Can I say that? Or will a princess somewhere take offense and sue me?

Don't the gay population have a big parade to make fun of all sorts of people. :sarcasm:

They do, I would suggest John Howard would have a case if he wanted to go that way, given some of the ways he has been depicted at the Mardi Gras.

It is typical of a minority group. They have chips on their shoulders. Ian Roberts is trying to push his acting career. Nothing like a bit of free media.

You can't see how that was a joke about bogan fathers as opposed to homosexuals?

From memory, the main character in the skit was matty johns playing his fictional gay bro - elton johns....not his dad.

The -I wanna return this, its faulty- bit is only a small part of it.

The character was a send up of a real gay man though, and all he actually did during the skit was act like Elton John.

The dad's line was quite obviously a joke about your typical footy dad's homophobia.

Besides which, I don't recall anyone getting their rainbow panties in a twist over Trent, the genuine gay joke character. What a difference a decade of PC bullsh*t makes

Exactly, 100% per cent right..Even if I do intensly dislike John Howard...

Won't do any good to Ch9, it's the timing..

In the early 1900s we had the Industrial Age, In the 1950s and 60s we had the Nuclear Age..

In the 1990s and 2000s we are going through the Feminazi and Gay agenda Age..There is nothing that can be done but just ride it out..
