Gee, Leilua and Tapine look good

The only gripe I have with Tapine is that he is playing for Canberra this year and not 2017 onwards. He should have been in reserve grade for Newcastle this year and I'm disappointed the club didn't stand their ground.

...and I agree with this as well.

I'm one. Without considerable TPA $$$$, I could not justify handing out in excess of 500K for a bloke who was yet to play 2 games of decent minutes in firsts. From all accounts, most of the dosh would have come from the cap. Could anyone else?

With the situation we were/are in, it didn't make sense. Still sucks.

It's funny because just a few months ago you lot were rejoicing getting rid of a player who didn't want to be apart of our rebuilding phase and didn't want to throw the bank at him to keep him at the club. A year ago celebrated Leilua departing because he had a poor attitude and wasn't worth the trouble.

Every single f**king one of you so don't lay the boot into the club when at the time you were happy with their decision.

I think to be fair that most of us didn't realise that our cap / recruitment was so screwed up and that after losing Tapine, we might be signing 2nd grade cast offs as the high water mark for 2016 and be out of the market for two plus years.

Most thought that we'd be clearing the decks and bringing in some new blood and quality. That's not likely until 2018 at the earliest.

We thought we had the luxury of letting him go, now we all know that its a mistake.

I can honestly say I'm glad they're both gone. Both would cost way too much and BJ is a lazy piece of shit with the IQ of a potato.

Toohey column today revealed four potential investors with a fair bit of financial whack waiting in wings to take over the club. NRL insisting on community input with probable WESTS overseeing that side of things. WESTS would be a good advocate for the members IMO. We need a voice that can argue a point that is not pie in the sky bollocks. Someone who can make a straight business decision with zero emotion attached if the club is in any way compromised.

We need a voice that can argue a point that is not coming from people who can't runs chook raffle is. The members who think Stone should still be coach. New owners should seek TPAs to cover big proportion of our highest paid players(Mullen, Uate etc.) for 2017 so we can go all in for any decent players up for grabs next year and into 2018.

NRL want whatever model will keep us solvent but irrelevant.

The negativity in here is truly heavy. It sucks to be sure the current situation but you cannot write if someone thing that is yet to even materialise. I wonder if by chance we rebound from this as a heavyweight club with TPAs out our arse will people be able to admit they were wrong. I know I can.

I certainly can also, but you have to accept that we are utterly skeptical based on the last 10 plus years with this club. We've been let down so many times and things have been f**ked up so many times that it's hard to imagine a future where good things happen regularly because every light at the end of a tunnel for 10 plus years has been a train.........

I just want a genuine owner who can balance passion for the club with the necessary business head to make sure the club is first ,second and third at all times. Set goals like being a finals side every year or else we kick whatever stops that to the curb. Ambition is our enemy. We need to remove the battler tag and talk it up.

I hope the new owner just goes for the jugular on every failure we have had leading up to this. Speaks out straight up aiming for anyone with a selfish interest that sold us short. Leaves no doubt that the club has been poorly treated by some people not up to the task. By the same token praise the ones who tried to fix things.

What is there to be wrong about?

I am saying the exact same thing the club is saying - we can't compete in our current state, we need something external to change... either a new owner prepared to lose money or a proper cap.

Of course they are rolling that turd in sprinkles to try to get people to still come through the gate supporting it.

The NRL have apparently ruled out the "rich sugar daddy" option, and there is no way in hell they are enforcing a proper cap.

This tells us they are happy for us to be left behind.

Why do the NRL owe the Knights anything?

There are 16 teams in the NRL last time I checked. The Titans are also NRL owned and are going alright. The Raiders exist in a much smaller market and have got their business in order.

The cap/TPAs are an issue no doubt, but it's all too easy for the Knights to throw their hands in the air crying foul rather than look at what they are doing wrong.

There's no question that a lot of what the NRL does is unfair, but I'd put a lot of that down to just plain ineptitude rather than outright wanting to see us fail.

The NRL has nothing to gain by us being a basket case.

Yeah, the NRL actively wanting us to be shit is a bit of a stretch for me. I don't think they care much one way or another as long as we can pay the bills.

The various power brokers seemed to care a lot in the mid 90s when both sides threw tens of millions at the area to try and help win the super league war.

The Titans don't have TPA's but are still under the salary cap by a considerable margin which is why they can afford to bring in Peats and Hurrell and still have change to bring in more quality.

They will still never be able to compete against the stockpiled Broncos who have TPA's and brown paper bags all over the place but the Knights need to get on a financial par as the Titans in terms of salary cap.

The joke is the club are near the salary cap limit however the majority of players are currently only Reserve Grade standard and are clearly the worst side in the competition for some years.

We need to stop paying overs for players who are currently not 1st grade standard and until such time as we do this we will be pushing sh!t up hill trying to convince the NRL about the unlevel playing field of the current TPA arrangements

What are the NRL doing to fix the situation? Recruit a board that knows and understands the game? Place astute management in the club?

The NRL could do plenty, and are doing very little. People are still paying to see the club be whipping boys to the rest of the comp, so there isn't a problem.
