The 2024 season was very good for the Dogs.

They were criticised for buying a stack of middling players. Salmon, Mann, Hutchison etc. But every player on that signing list had played finals football in recent seasons. It was smart recruiting.

Better still. The deals were all cheap and short-term. So they've got wriggle room to land a big singing and move on players quickly if needed. If they can land a star half or fullback that will put them in premiership contention.

I always thought the criticism of Gus was that he did well here but was getting a bit weird at the end so a change was needed.
He said from day 1 that the plan was to make himself redundant, which is kind of how it played out.

Do we win 4 straight if he never came? I think its a resounding not a hope in hell. Also do we win 4 straight if he hadn't left? Less resounding, but still a no from me.

With Perth coming in for 2027 who are we a chance of having poached? I honestly don't want to lay the boot in but this is a good chance to move on overpaid/underperforming players... yes our right centre is someone we should be looking to move on if possible here.

I think Haas will be the Bears number 1 target

Really happy for the Bears. Good to see one of the game's great wrongs being at least somewhat put right.

I'll never have a second team, but they're one I'll hate less than the others.

Bears should go for South African RU players. Quite a few South Africans living in Perth already.

Don't follow the RU but when the Western Force were around I imagine they had a few players from SA.

A half is going to get a massively inflated contract. If young guys in the same mold of Talgi and Cole across the league can show they can be first graders

Here we go again we are about to be raped again. There should be compensation for developing players for OTHER clubs!

In the NHL when a new team comes in they have a thing called the Expansion Draft.

Basically all existing teams can select 2 players from their squad to lock down. These players are off limits.

All other players in the competition have their salaries revealed, and the new team can select any 2 players from each team to form their squad (as long as they stay within the salary cap).

Probably wouldn't get passed the NRLPA here, but it's a much fairer system IMO, and also gives the new team a genuine opportunity to be competitive from Day 0.

One of the big problems is some clubs do not put enough resources into development. Each club should be allotted a country area and spend time money and resources on young kids in that area similar to what we do.

To be fair. The broncs have been unstoppable. Its been the best footy ive seen this year and its pouring.

It's been coming. No Walsh either which may have helped. Too many chefs in the kitchen?

They are absolutely a contender. Dogs are too if they keep staying in games. Tonight is an exception.

The Dogs have had a very soft first 6 weeks. St George Titans Eels Sharks Knights Rabbits.
