Sorry, which poster has suggested there isnt a shit ton of problems going on at the Raiders right now?
The two arent mutally exclusive.

No one is dunking on this stupid f**king club more than their own fans right now. Rightly so, they're f**ked and we should invoice those merkins for pain and aggrevation they've caused us.
Very true

From the outside, blame on both sides, truth probably somewhere in the middle.

A couple of points:
Fox has the platform so we really only hear their version (and the "journos" are Ricky's mates and being fed by him) which goes largely unchallenged. 360 just glossed over or ignored the bits that didn't fit their agenda.

big hit!

I remember thinking in 2019 how good the English recruitment strategy is for Canberra. It was difficult attracting decent local players down there, so bring in quality English players who are used to a shit and cold environment. Seemed to work well for a while until Bateman started agitating.

I'm not going to say its Ricky's fault or whatever, but perhaps Bateman also has hand in this unrest and his influence is lingering. After all, Hodgson has been around since 2015 and we never heard any problems with him in the 4 seasons prior to Bateman arriving.

We've also got to keep in mind the impact COVID has had on the English contingent and inability to go home in the off-season.

The arrangement has soured, and given local players don't want to go to Canberra, and English player experiment is now blowing up - Canberra could be in the doldrums in infinity

Covid has played a huge role in this. Its not just in rugby league but a lot of entertainment which involves flying in talent. People have been struggling with home sickness in a world where the can't just pop back over home during breaks. Although without covid its probably more likely Bateman signs with the bulldogs and Williams ends up at a Sydney club so small mercies

Its ok we will suck forever it will give me a lot of time workshopping my new comedy character the most depressed man in the world

The 360 coverage was so biased it was amusing. Ikin and Lara tried to bring some balance, but Kenty was having nothing of it. It was all George Williams being a dick and nothing else to see here. Best part was right at the end of the segment when Kenty tailed off his bullshit to end with a barely audible '' I think it has already begun...I..I think the raiders are in a bit of revival"

Hooper is just thick as two planks.

I've got no bias either way on this..

But the situation would not be how it is if the player - who signed a 7-figure, 3 year contract - requested to get out of it.

It all starts with him. And finishes with him.

Both Gareth Widdop & George Williams are English players who cited "homesickness" as a reason to their clubs in order return home. But that's where the similarities end for me.

The difference between this case and Widdop as I see it is that Widdop had spent a long time in Australia, and served his employer/club (the Dragons) for many seasons and added value to that team. They were better for him being there. The release, while not ideal for the Dragons, was still respectful and mutual - because of how he'd served the club.

Williams spent one season here, then wanted a release. End of season or otherwise.. One season.... A guy who the Raiders had spent transfer fees on ($200k or so??), committed to 7 figures over 3 years, with a competitive squad around him which had reached the grand final only a year before...

The team has declined since he's come to the Raiders. They are performing worse each season since he's been there. That's not all on him but for a guy who signed for a princely sum to want to quit after only 1 season says far more about him than the Raiders club.
