exactly, messi speed would have been very useful later on plus hes very different to crespo and would've have tormented Mertasacka and Metzelder who are two big lumbering lads. Julio Cruz is like a carbon copy of crespo I really can't see the advantage in replacing crespo with him when its not goiing to change anything tactically and it leaves you with no plan B

Absolutely disasterous substitutions from Pekerman. No Riquelme is bad enough but leaving Messi on the bench is a close 2nd.
Though IMO the ref needs to be asked some hard questions as to why Argentina was not awarded a penalty with a few minutes left in normal time. Maxi was absolutely hacked down and then he gives him a yellow for diving :crazy: Without doubt should of been an Argentina penalty. But then the home fans wouldnt have been happy about that would they?
