Today's CT says that Raiders teenage halfback is determined to play in Saturday's PL Preliminary Final - on one leg if he has to.

Carney had an xray on his injured left ankle yesterday but won't get the results until this morning. He is however aiming to be at training tonight.

The Raiders must win against the Dragons on the weekend to qualify for their second consecutive grand final. Carney was walking without crutches yesterday and is confident of taking his spot.

"It feels a lot better than it was" Carney said before last night's swim recovery session. "If it is half right, I'll play. It could be our last game."

Mark Henry is on standby for Carney, having filled in for the majority of last weekend's win against the Eels, after Carney was injured midway through the first half.

"He's been an important part of our team" coach Collins said. "Todd's in some doubt. We'll just see how he goes towards the end of the week. He probably won't train until Thursday or Friday." He will be given every opportunity to prove his fitness.

And the CT also features members of the "Raiders Army" on the front of the "Food and Wine" supplement. It is all out what to eat while watching the footy finals.

I've injured my neck, but I'm planning on being there. Where are we sitting? Or are we buying GA tix?

Bloody hell. When we agreed to it we thought "what sort of a person reads the food and wine section?" no one that is who. This could be a way to get our foot in the door with the CT to run an article on joining the Army next season. It has all gone pear shaped from there!!! This is not a highlight for my career or bound to make the resume.

I thought Ruben was tough playing on one leg last week but this effort tops the lot Jed. This sort of determination will see you win the trophy in next year's SGB supporter of the year poll.

On WIN TV news tonight:

The PL side is readying for a tough game against the Dragons on the weekend. Todd Carney looks like getting the all clear. The team had a pool session last night. At poolside, coach Wayne Collins said the PL team needs to improve in defence... 30 points in a semi final is too many points to concede, referring to last weekend's result. Phil Graham should be a steadying influence out wide. Graham said that the side would have to watch especially for Brett Firman.

Meanwhile, Phil Small did nothing to quash the rumours that the Raiders may be considering a player swap with St George, releasing Tyran Smith in exchange for Lincoln Withers. He said the club "may be offloading Smith" as part of such a deal. No report of the club denials in today's CT.

Specialist Halves/Hookers tested at NRL level:

Mclinden, Woolford...

Backrowers tested at NRL level:

Hodgson, Adamson, Hindmarsh, Martin, Croker, Tongue

Players coming through the ranks:

Miller, Rothery...

It's obvious where our lack of depth is. Get rid of Smith and sign Withers.
