First of all who the f**k are you and why do I have to answer your shit question? Your original post was talking about striking at the play the ball was it not? Striking at the play the ball offers nothing to the game except the chance for more mistakes, penalties and old farts to reminisce about how good the game used to be.
You want some examples? Live through the 80s and 90s. Rose coloured glasses will tell you it was all sweeping backline plays but the reality was a vast number of games were dropfests between semi pro footballers.

Now if that hasn't answered your question than I don't give a flying f**k.
Still got the same 'Welcome' mat I see ol' mate but I'm with you . . . a player getting to his feet on the spot he was tackled, placing the ball on the ground and playing it back with a foot would take as long to do as it does to type . . . and we need this antidote to the 'wrestle'

Just as I thought. Ask for some evidence, get a load of rubbish and emotions.
Where's your evidence that striking at the ball will be better than what is happening now?

Norths v souths 1991 at north Sydney oval?
Newtown v Wests at henson park in round 2 1980?

Striking for the ball in the play was a shitfest.

Here's a sample for you:

1990 Ashes 2nd Test

1986 NSWRL Grand Final

1981 State of Origin

1984 First Ashes Test

1990 NSWRL Grand Final

If you call that a shitfest, I'd be happy for the game to be one.

As expected. Nothing from a Nobody.
So to prove that striking at the ball is a good thing you selected 5 of the highest quality games from 30 plus years ago to prove your 'point'. No doubt you can pinpoint in these games the benefit of striking for the ball.

I think we know who the nobody around here is, but if you're still struggling: user name starts with L and ends with ball.

If you've got a sample of games where striking for the ball has ruined the game, let's see it. Put up or shut up.

Are they allowed to be random games like your fragile argument? Or do I have to pinpoint the exact moment which you haven't done?

the benefits of allowing striking at the ball are numerous, such as: competition for ball (an almost forgotten aspect of the game), a potential consequence for getting tackled (whereas presently the tackled player gets spoilt rotten like he just achieved a great feat), brings in an additional skill to the game...

I would consider bringing it back in limited circumstances like as a reward for a one on one tackle, the ball is live in the play the ball and the marker can strike at it.

Whatever floats your boat. Stop talking and get posting chump.
Oh noes he's called me a chump.

This is the reality. Striking for the ball is never going to return. You can post as many irrelevant YouTube vids and cry as much as you want, it's not coming back.

And the reason it's not coming back is because it was a shit rule admired only by clueless morons like you.

Anything you argue is moot purely and simply because the chances of the rule changing back is as likely as you being deemed anything but a f**king imbecile in the next ten years.

Happy striking chump.

Everybody seems to agree these days that the ruck is a total abomination and a blight on the game. One solution that I heard put forward was to get rid of the requirement that the markers have to be square. Allow the 2 markers to line up anywhere they like behind the advantage line as sort of free agents.

The claim is justified because striking at the ball was outlawed to clean up the play the ball you f**king gibbering gimp.

You complain about the play the ball then want something that makes the play the ball more of a shambles reintroduced.

If you were any thicker they'd use you as a railway sleeper.

Better than it was but with work to go.

Bringing back raking will not improve it, better reinforcement of the rules as they stand will.

It's not better than it was.

Allowing the marker to strike once the ball is on the ground would give the man playing the ball all the reason he needs to play it properly.

The play the ball does need to be looked at next year. Its too late now to mess around with the interpretation but there needs to be a crack down its getting ridiculous

There are a bunch of issues with not playing the ball correctly but I really hate it when a bloke does it about 5 m out from the goal line. Its such a huge advantage to the attacking side.

Some players literally never play the ball properly. Its not rocket science

Currently the refs allow the players to just tunnel ball it straight between there legs. Basically rolling the ball to acting half. There isn't a lot of scope to strike the ball imo

WHere it would work is the plant the ball on the ground and try and force a penalty play. Right now if a gust of wind knocks the ball out there is a strong chance the ref will blow a penalty. I wouldn't be opposed to the opposition being allowed to strike the ball away if a player isn't completely standing when he plants the ball on the ground. That could be a good rule.

I know nobody really wants to watch Raiders games but a few weeks Joe Tapine did one of the most offensive play the balls i have ever seen. He sorta played it on one knee and rolled it between his knee and foot and the ref was like yes this is fine

Players don't play the ball correctly because they spend 4 hours trying to get up after a tackle because there being sexually assaulted by the defense with wrestling on the ground so when they finally get up they just throw it under there legs in disgust.
