Considering how even horrible comedies are generally able to splice together at least 2 minutes of kinda funny stuff for a trailer this is not looking promising at all.

I honestly did not even crack a smile at any point during this trailer. Not even out of nostalgia by seeing slimer, their butchered version of the car, or anything.

The only thing I hope from all this is that Melissa McCarthy is finally discovered as the unfunny hack that she is. She is Rob Schneider levels of terrible

Wow it looks bad.

Cliche, over the top, forced. basically everything that the original wasn't this one is trying to be.

Watched the trailer on youtube. 60k likes, but 90k dislikes. This thing is going to bomb hard.

I was willing to give it a chance because Paul Feig wrote one of my favourite shows (freaks and geeks) but that trailer was bad.

So flat and uninteresting. The original was so well crafted. Even taking the actors out of it. This just looks meh.
Edit

Kristen wiig seemed alright tbh. Thats about as big a compliment as i can muster from the trailer. Wasnt a huge fan of the slime in vagina talk but thats on the writing

Edit

I am writing a lot of words about a shitty trailer but why do the ghosts look worse than the ghosts in the movie made in the early 80s.

Something else that also threw me off was the fact the entire thing was lit like it was a goddamned 4 camera sitcom. Every scene was as bright as all hell. The original was dark, gritty, and heaps of scenes at night. The ghost that spits slime is practically a neon sign to try and compete with the stadium lighting the rest of the room is lit with.

It was also genuinely scary for kids. Those f**king dogs, getting sucked into the fridge, the possession by Zuul, all terrifying for a primary school Danish. What is possibly going to be scary in this movie? Melissa McCarthy being possessed is basically just some stupid slapstick scene, and ghosts cannot be scary when they are so bright they look like cartoon characters

Haha its one of the best scenes in comedy.

The whole premise is brilliant. Like Bill Murrays character Peter Venkman is a total con artist but the con turns out to actually be reality

Definitely. The whole trailer looked so bright and vibrant, probably to try and impress kids. It's a horrible choice of colour grading.

Agree completely. It feels more like Scooby-Doo than Ghostbusters, including the characters. The only way it could get worse is if one of them actually said jeepers or zonkers.

The opening scene in the library scared the sh*t of of me as a kid.

Used to fast forward the first 5 minutes myself. lol.

This is the single biggest reason why I don't think it will work. The Ghostbusters were for the most part ordinary guys with a fascination for the paranormal. Yes they made the proton packs, ghost traps etc so they're obviously very intelligent, but that was never the focus of what those characters were.

In this trailer alone we get to find out that each of them is absolutely unmatched and brilliant in a particular area as if that somehow matters or makes them better characters. It doesn't.

The whole thing just looks really really lazy. Like a Michael Bay film minus the explosions.

Leslie Jones' character is the ultimate 'sassy black woman' character too. It feels so forced, and she's a better actress than that. Ernie Hudson was brilliant in the first two, and they didn't feel the need to make his character a stereotype because he was black. They are definitely doing that here.

Absolutely. Didn't you know, only black people know the streets of New York?

Then there's the whole "somebody has created a device that amplifies paranormal activity" plot point.

I mean....is it really needed....how come....ugh....:?:?:(

Tempted to lock this thread due to the shitness of the trailer.

Feels like this film just shouldn't be discussed.

I knew nothing about it until someone mentioned it on Facebook earlier today. If I could go back to knowing nothing, I'd be a happier man.

This isn't as sacrilegious as the point break "remake" (that shall never be watched by anyone and anyone involved should be excommunicated by the pope), but it's still so stupidly ridiculous that you'd be failing in your duties as a moderator if you didn't lock this thread.

That trailer...was awesome! It was...

Wait, no...what's the word I'm looking for? Oh, right...Awful.

I just threw up a little in my mouth AND my butt after watching that.

f**k you, Hollywood.

I think they're all very talented actresses - Spy was hilarious and did a great job at poking fun of all the stereotypical James Bond tropes.

What I hate, is that they've cast these four purely as a point to cast four women. This in itself isn't a problem, but the chemistry that the original four had just isn't there.

Also, only just found out that in their cameos Aykroyd, Murray and Hudson are playing new characters? What in the actual f**k!?!?

What could have possibly inspired anyone to even attempt to remake or reboot or do another sequel to an original and classic film like Ghostbusters, and not expect to receive the kind of backlash and resentment we are witnessing and also participating in here in our little corner of the internet.

Would absolutely love to know what Murray and Ackroyd think of this abortion. Please tell me they had nothing to do with it.

EDIT: just saw Timbo's post. What would possess them to be a part of this? Seems money really does speak all languages.

"This looks so bad I'm not even going to pirate it"

I really don't get it either - all three of them are successful, prolific actors. They couldn't possibly need the money.

Why would you make their cameos new characters? The only chance this movie had is I feel if it had been a 'passing the torch' from those three if they are too old to keep Ghostbusting. Why make them new characters?
