GI - out of retirement to Warrington

Is anyone surprised that Souths once again gets some kind of preferential treatment and the other teams are told to just get over it?

Again exactly what do you want the NRL to do that isn’t going to land them in court? You can’t force someone to go to work and you can’t punish a team for someone taking up work elsewhere. What do you want?
Don’t pretend roosters are hard done by either.

Deal smeal. We are talking about origin here. And as already mentioned QLD are struggling for centres. If Inglis wants to play in it then he has till June 30 to get on Souths roster again.

And don't be surprised if Cam Smith decides he wants to finish his career in the maroon as well. This years Origin series will be a very different one.
Smith has made it very clear that his representative career is over. Wish everybody just finally notices it and drops the talk of him returning.

Just like Inglis made it very clear he was done with rugby league. Over until it ain't.

Smith's NRL career is about to end (God willing). Outside of a premiership there will be no better send off.

let’s be real he wasn’t cutting it before he walked away from his deal. He’s will have had over 18 months out before he runs out for wire. With travel restrictions it could be over 2 years without a game. I’m less convinced he’s going to have an impact over there than I am Sonny Bill will.
GI will be the biggest name on a long list of aussies who can’t handle being away from home etc etc
its a pension by stealth . smoke and mirrors maybe

so he's going over to England and leaving the wife and kids in Aus. Sounds like he's sick of the suburban life and keen to get back to the single footballer lifestyle

pretty sure they’re divorced now anyway. Don’t think he needs to move to Warrington to be a nobody when he could live that life much better here.

If you looked at any club there's a dozens of former players in similar roles. Darren Lockyer is a board member for broncos, do you think he got the role because of his business acumen
And to make his job easier, he has those Nestle' coffee sachets to make the cuppas with.

Describing Inglis as a great player, Walters told Fox League Live: “The door is always open for great Queenslanders if they ever want to come back and play, we never shut the door, that’s always our way.

However, that avenue appears to have been closed in recent years with the NRL only allowing players registered in the NRL turn out in Origin.

Tick tock GI. June 30 is just around the corner.

The decent move would be to play on peanuts for the Titans. As a favour for Mal.

This may come as a shock but based on his more recent form, he’d not make the Titans run on side.

Lol.

I think people undersell GIs 2018.

For the first half of 2016 GI was poor. There was very obviously problems at souths especially around Sam's return. At the back end of 2016, after GIs post origin suspension, GI went on a dominant run, souths finished out the season 5/7 with one of those losses being a golden point loss to the storm. Gi was the best player in all those games.

In 2017 he done his act 7 minutes in. He still scores a try with an act.

In 2018, Souths become a top 4 team and a genuine contender. At centre GI scores 10 tries in 19 games. His winger, Robert Jennings, scores 20 tries. Sutton on the same edge has probably his best year of his career. GI was one of QLDs best in a losing series.

We won't see 12-14 GI, But even something close to 18 GI would walk easily into most teams, be one of Titans best and would dominate the ESL

I make no claims to how his comeback will go but the timing of the announcement will have NRL clubs interested. In fact his agent will be fielding calls from them right now.

The cynic in me wonders if after a season at Warrington he "regains his passion for the game" and signs a new contract to play with Souths next season.
No no no . . . he'll miss his family, his people and his culture. He will need to re-connect. Not passion. Qantas will dust off the aboriginal art decorated plane and fly him home for free. Bit of a smoking ceremony on the tarmac of Kingsford Smith, an obligatory goanna . . . and THEN he will go play at souffs.
I've said it before, but I need to say it again.
LOL@souffs
No, seriously. LOL@souffs

One of the problems that this whole situation causes (and everyone said it at the time), is that if you’ve got the money and ain’t bothered about value, you could sign let’s say Cameron Smith for 700k for 5 years, starting in 2021 (beating other competitors to his signature who were legitimately offering him $1m for the 1 year based on his age) - at the end of 2021, he just decides ‘He can’t live up to his standards’ and retires, but steps into an office job with the club (or a sponsor) that happens to pay him the rest of the contract money owed over the 5 years.
It’s a bona fida rort.

Is anyone surprised that Souths once again gets some kind of preferential treatment and the other teams are told to just get over it? They are the darlings of the NRL I still remember the 2014 NRL Grand Final where the entire pre show was dedicated to how great Souths are and how Souths winning will be a great thing for the league. Barely any mention of the Dogs it was gross how biased it all was and that's coming from someone who isn't a fan of either team.

In regards to Super League and Warrington they keep getting bigger and bigger names headed their way which is great for their comp. SBW, Folau and now Inglis are all big signings along with the likes of Maloney, Widdop etc who have had very good NRL careers.

Positive is it could open up an NRL Dream Team Vs Super League Dream Team game down the road. NRL side featuring the likes of Cam Smith, Tedesco, Holmes, Cordner, Ponga etc taking on a Super League side featuring the likes of Inglis, SBW, Folau, Maloney, Widdop etc. Super League team could probably keep it close as well as opposed to a few years back where really average former NRL players would carve up in England.

The 2014 NRL GF was the most sickening display in history.

Don't forget that was the occasion that souffs didn't feel it necessary to report the indiscretions of Kirisome Auva'a to the NRL so he could play in the GF.

Good on him, hope he succeeds over there. Was one of the most devastating players I’ve ever seen and while his best is well behind him, I couldn’t be happier for him to have a crack at it. It also suggests to me he’s in a good head space which above everything else is why I’m pleased for him.

Best of luck Greg!

Clueless. Dude could go on the field with a walking frame he would still probably be better than 80% of the centres in the NRL
