Actually, what people are saying about Gidley getting us to move forward is somewhat accurate. there were 1 or 2 sets in the entire time he was on the field where he did get out of dummy half on quick PTB's and made us some very good metres getting our forwards on the front foot. unfortunately it was during a period of the game where clock stoppages and drop balls were far more prevalent. he did better than Ennis at hooker, though... and anyone who doesn't have malformed eyes or something who watches the game again will see it pretty clearly.

once again... not saying he was good... but i can see where people are coming from.

Hayne wasn't the worst on field, either. not even close... but it's no co-incidence that he looked as bad as Gidley has in the #1, i assure you.

Here's a novel idea for the NSW selectors.

Why not pick a genuine fullback who is in good form. Not a winger who has been forced to play at fullback who had a dream run of form for half a season last year and has since done f**k all.

If you are going to pick one-dimensional halves, select a skillful hooker so that there is someone out there as a ball player.

Gidley is a number 6 naturally. Select him there and leave him there if you are adamant he is origin worthy. (which he clearly isn't)

Pick a halfback and f**king stick with them for the entire series ffs. If you show some faith in a halfback, he will quickly show some good form.

The NSW halves are thrown in the deep end and if they don't play their greatest game ever they are dumped. It's quickly become a poisoned chalice.

The one dimensional coach has all but killed any creativity in this team.

You obviously are not a Newcastle supporter nor have you watched Gidley closely over his career. He is not, in any way, shape or form a number 6. Ever.

Gidley is the most prime example of "jack of all trades, master of none". Seriously the guy is definitely not a fullback, doesn't have the skills for the halves, and cannot player hooker.

A player like Craig Wing worked at Origin because he was dynamite at hooker and then could also cover other positions. Gidley cannot even perfect just one
