Actually, what people are saying about Gidley getting us to move forward is somewhat accurate. there were 1 or 2 sets in the entire time he was on the field where he did get out of dummy half on quick PTB's and made us some very good metres getting our forwards on the front foot. unfortunately it was during a period of the game where clock stoppages and drop balls were far more prevalent. he did better than Ennis at hooker, though... and anyone who doesn't have malformed eyes or something who watches the game again will see it pretty clearly.
once again... not saying he was good... but i can see where people are coming from.
Hayne wasn't the worst on field, either. not even close... but it's no co-incidence that he looked as bad as Gidley has in the #1, i assure you.
