Jason Maher would of accepted such a vile decision with open arms, fully accepting it was simply human error with no harsh feelings towards the referee

I just want to re-iterate that he was at least 35 metres on side, at least.

And you merkins would have branded me a sook.

As a Broncos fans Gillett doesn't get sin binned Dragons score maybe 1 or 2 more tries in the second half, Broncos probably 1 or 2 more than they did over all, score line would have probably looked more like 40 - 18 or something.

The tries the Dragons scored while Gilltett was off, I only have a problem with one, the Thompson try which was off a forward pass, but in saying that I have seen far worse forward passes let go and I was happy that the ref just awarded it without going upstairs, gets painful when 2 out of 3 tries in a game go upstairs, sometimes I just want a call to be made and the game to keep moving.

The Thompson try was not off a forward pass. The Dugan try shouldn't have been given. Should have been a scrum feed to the Dragons (Vidot knocked on then Nightingale knocked on).

**EDIT** I feel sorry for the refs. They always seem to f**k something up during any given game. There are way too many rules and way too many interpretations. I hope it gets looked at during the offseason and something gets done about it.

Either way dude, 50/50 calls at best, and it shows considering we kinda agree that only one of the tries should have been awarded.

I think the video ref should be able to advise in a situation like the Gillett one and the ref should be able to change his call. Had that been the case, even before Gillett leaves the field it could have been changed with the ref saving face.

Totally agree about the Gillett situation. Better team won on the day, so at least the clanger didn't cost your team the game.

I could see the argument for the Dugan try but my issue is that it goes against the current system where there has to be definitive evidence to over-rule an on-field decision.

In my view, there wasn't enough evidence there to prove that Nightingale didn't get a piece of that ball with his arm at any point.

It really caught me off guard too. Usually when the video referees can deem no try, scrum to the attacking team, 9/10 they take it but they really put their balls on the line for that decision.

Meanwhile, I got to agree with This Year on the Thompson try. Just looked like a good flat pass from what I've seen. Hodges should have had him.

imagine if that decision cost us the game and it quite easily could of against a team that put the foot to the throat more effectively in such situations

last home game for Griffin, top 8 hopes on the line.. I know players and coaches use the "we should of been better" but when you lose a bloke for 10 minutes when he was some 40 metres on side, you can't justify that.. you just can't

Cummins is fortunate that we were so far ahead at the time of that horrendous decision, in a close game that decision decides it, as such I get the feeling he won't be punished as significantly as he would of been had we lost.. kind of like when a guy gets tipped on his head but gets up, if he doesn't get up and gets carted off on a stretcher then the bloke who got put on report misses months of footy instead of 2-3 weeks

Would HAVE, should HAVE, could HAVE. The borderline illiteracy on this forum makes it painful to read.

Apart from that, you makes good points. Too much focus on effect rather than focusing on the actual incident. Why should a ref get dropped just because his dud call cost a team a game when another ref can make the exact same mistake and get away with it because the team benefiting from the dud call couldn't take advantage?
