Lock in A Eddie. Hits him on the arm.

Lock in B, it hits the Broncos player right arm after hitting Nightingale's chest and thigh.
By the rules, not a knock on, but I do agree with PR, contact above the waist while playing at the ball should be a knock on. I remember Gallen scoring a try last year after Graham completely missed grabbing the ball, hit his chest with Gallen falling on the loose ball to score, even as a sharks tragic I didn't want that one given.

You're all forgetting that the main ref called no-try before sending upstairs.

It's impossible to tell whether the ball touches any part of Nightingale's arm or not from that angle, which means there is inconclusive evidence for the VR to overturn the on-field decision, which only came about because the Dragons were gifted possession, momentum and the advantage of playing 13 vs 12 due to a horrendously incorrect call.

Not sure why anyone is arguing the point about the Dugan try anyway...

Bingo. Ok, it might not have touched his arm. I have no DNA evidence. But I don't see enough to overturn it.

I argued, or brought up the point, to further establish that our referees are hopefully incompetent, inconsistent and illogical.

And I truly believe if that call was made at 24-20, not 24-4, it might well have been a different one.

Cummins is that same cheat who binned Sandow for asking him how much Melbourne were paying him. He is the king of giving a string of penalties to even up counts when the opposition is camped on his favoured team (generally Melbourne's) try line. As soon as they get the ball back, he gives them a piggyback down field.

Look at some of his performances this year. He is either a cheat or diabolically incompetent. There is no excuse for what happened on Friday night. Sorry.

Biggest problem is the refs are weak characters. And I don't say that lightly. Since the bulldogs game suddenly they are enforcing no talking by players. Where has it been all season? They shouldn't need to be told to,clamp down on sht, it should be consistent every game, every ref. Not sure if it's weak refs or poor management and coaching, either way things need to change and we need some refs with balls.

Couldn't possibly agree more.

No, it's possible. Nightingale's arm is out to his right side, and the ball is jostling around on the left side/leg. It's an illusion based on the shitty visual perspective that the ball is anywhere near it (relatively speaking) really. If there was a front on view (of Nightingale) from behind the goalposts, I'd say it would show the ball is at least 10 - 15 cm away from his right arm.

You'd have to think it's poor coaching more so than it is weak referees, all these refs have 10 years plus (except for Perenara) experience and have come through the grades starting with park level which is a lot tougher football to manage. No cameras there to help with foul play so a game can explode much easier than it does in first grade.

Their player management is poor at the moment, but I'd imagine most of them are capable of laying down the law if they are allowed.

So you are thinking that they are refereeing with one arm tied behind their back?

Surely an ex-ref would be a whistleblower if this were the case.

Well I'm not entirely sure, but there has to be some sort of explanation for some of the more perplexing performances you see in first grade. Referees want to stay at the top so they're going to do as they're told.

The only reason I think it may be the case is that in lower grades refs tolerate a lot less and you generally see players whinging like Ennis or Hayne binned or sent off very quickly.

It's either that, or, as said earlier in the thread, the referees are soft.

Can't believe the uproar about this. But then again it is the first ever refereeing decision to go against Brisbane at home since they came into the comp in 1988 so one can understand what a big thing it was.

Jason Maher would of accepted such a vile decision with open arms, fully accepting it was simply human error with no harsh feelings towards the referee

I just want to re-iterate that he was at least 35 metres on side, at least.
