Its astouning how a professional code is officiated so amateurly.
If a handful of player made errors as egregiously and regularly as the officals of this code, they'd investigate them for match fixing

Someone mentioned it in the game day thread, but this was simply the result of Cummins just not paying attention to what was happening. At the highest level of the game that's simply unacceptable.

How long do you think it took for any of the officials to realise that a mistake had been made? If I really strain myself I can imagine how Cummins might have thought for a second that Marshall had been tackled and that a play the ball had occurred.

Surely though in the 45 seconds it took for Gillett to leave the field it might have occurred to any one of the five officials that a major f**k up had just taken place and that they still had the chance to correct it.

It boggles the mind.

They were gifted 5-0 penalties in the first 10mins of the second half leading up to the sin bin. The dragons didn't have to work the ball out of their own end. They were all soft penalties that you see in every tackle and the one on dugan that lead to the quick tap was the worst. No doubt the ref came out with the mentality to get them back in the contest.

Fired the crowd up and made for a great atmosphere though.

that was like watching WWE, where the bad guy does whatever he has to do to get the crowd going and then have the good guy beat the shit of him to give off the loud cheers

in this case, the bad guy was the ref

Rnd 6 was the Storm try from a play the ball that occurred after the siren.

Horrid call that cost StG the game.

Damn you Ben Cummins.

It's approaching that time of the season when the NRL need to find a new way to screw over the Cowboys during the final series.

You've ruined the surprise.

Must b in the top 3 ref blunders of 2014?

They are quick to overturn decisions all the time yet left the ref hanging on this blunder!
