I notice Smalling is in neither group? An oversight or he hasn't convinced you either way yet?

I'd keep Rooney, Van Persie, Zaha, Powell, Carrick, Mata, Januzaj, Jones, De Gea, Welbeck, Lingegaard (already leaving?), Evans. Buttner for depth at left back, didn't do terribly. Smalling I suppose, depth if nothing else plus we don't want to run into a home grown player situation in the future like City have by signing everyone on the planet and keeping nobody else. What are the going to do? They are no-where near their quota+reduced squad makes things even harder if they were going to fill it with youth players.

I have a soft spot for Fletcher and Valencia but might be time to move on from them.

Ferdinand, Evra, Vidic thanks for the memories, you'll all be well remembered. Rafael you did well at times but we need more. Young I never liked, always thought he was a waste of money. Useless. Nani was way too hit and miss but did have a very good 12-18 month period, was vital in one of the championships if I recall. I'll remember him well, if not with a bit of regret that he couldn't maintain consistency over the length of his stay. Ridiculous that Moyes forced the club to re-sign him on bigger money and then never gave him a look in. Why? What was the f**king point, Moyes?

Cleverley. Never rated him and thought he got games because he was a local/from the academy and they wanted to keep the tradition of bringing Giggs, Scholes, Beckham through the system etc going. Probably am too harsh on him, would love him to prove me wrong but might have to be at another club.

Anderson I always, ALWAYS, had faith was going to come good one day. The one day he was like 28 and I realised that day would never come. Bye-bye.

If I'm missing anyone then they are probably not of note. Fellani will be there at least one more year as they will hemorrhage money if they sell him now.

Without going into to much detail now a lot will depend on what formation LvG is looking for us to play.

If i was in charge (which I ain't) I would get rid of Buttner (Now Evra has resigned), Carrick, Fletcher, Kagawa, Young, Nani, Chico and RvP.

These players are not good enough or just stand around doing nothing (RvP) and are just going to get in the way of the youngsters coming through.

I would sign a left back, a fast box to box midfielder and a back up CB.

Valencia stays to cover wing and fullback. Wilson replaces Chico. Lawrence replaces Nani, Lingard replaces Young. Kagawa replaced by new mid.

We need to find a position for Jones. Can't see him making CB. So defensive mid, or full back for him.

Going of a 4-3-3.
----------------DDG
Rafael - Smalling - Evans - New LB
--------------- New Mid (poss. Jones if Woody has another summer like last time)
---------Cleverly-------Mata
---Adnan--------------------Welbeck
-------------Rooney.

Or something like that.

In reality RvP won't go anywhere so we have to get him into the team without losing pace so Rooney replaces Clev in mid and RvP goes up top. If Welbeck and Adnan start wide it will leave space in the middle for Rooney and Mata to play with.

As long as LvG has a plan, and we can see what he is trying to do, and he even manages to pick the same team twice in a row, then that will be an improvement over last season.

Apparently Miranda from Atletico is going to be signed.

I can't see it. Not for the money involved.

It is all a bit up in the air at the moment. Woody was briefing journos all over the place about Moyes' targets but hopefully someone has told him to stop. It made him look like a dick last year and is threatening to do the same this. 2 signings before the WC remember.

The latest rumours are Sweinstager (sp?), Strootman, Hummels and Koke.

Basically players who have played for LvG or old names re-hashed. We will be back round to Rues and Gundogan (Sp? again!) from Dortmund again soon.

There is also Fabregas. Who knows, maybe a crazy swap with Barca for Mata?!

The people who know, are not telling now.

In other news, Anderson is back. Fiorentina don't want him...

With everyone we are rumoured to be signing, we are odds on the win the everything next year, cause no other teams will have any players.

Really hating this transfer window.

The Media are spinning rumours and forcing players to come out and deny their interest.

Quite embarrassing for MUFC having so many players come out like that

The media are just making stuff up though. Of course players deny their interest. Why would they say "yeah i want to leave my club and join United" when you know United are not interested.

I am not interested yet in rumours as we don't know what direction LvG is going to go in. What is more important is off loading a lot of players.

The only two players we need are a left back and a midfielder who can pass or run (preferably both). But he may have words with Rooney about where he is going to play.

Who knows? The media doesn't though.

We have no Europe to worry about so we can really trim the fat of the squad and have a season like Liverpool playing once a week. Our u21's are their for depth.

Good stuff. We needed a better (and younger) left back than Evra. We needed a decent central mid. If we could get Vidal as well, that would be rather awesome.

The figure being thrown around is 40m pounds + Nani.

Vidal has been quoted in the past saying he'll never play for a team that isn't in the Champions League. So we'll see what happens with that!

There are also reports that Man United officials are in Portugal to sign William Carvalho. If that's the case then Vidal would be off the table. However, Apparently Sporting's chairman is not even in Portugal, and he's the only one that does the talks.

Juve are willing to let Pogba go in order to keep Vidal so if you blokes get him it'll be a stunning piece of business.

Probably to expensive to go along with the fact that I'm not sure how he feels about United considering what happened a few years ago. I can see us going hard for Cavalho if sporting are willing to negotiate as the 30 odd million is way to much. But we do need a player like that to sit in front of the back four. I can see LVG going with a 4-3-3 with A new CM Cavalho? In front of the back 4, Herrera in a deeper playmaking role with Mata as the most advanced of the midfield 3.

Our fullbacks pick them selves in Shaw and Rafael. But CB is a problem potentially Smalling and Jones are a top partnership but all it is is potential right now as they haven't proved consistent or can't avoid injury.

The front 3 will most likely be RVP up top with Rooney floating in from the left and Januzaj or Valencia on the right, unless we pull off a move for Sanchez which I think is very unlikely.

Judging by that I think we still need a new CM and a CB also and possibly a winger as Nani has done nothing for a few seasons and Young is not Man United quality in my opinion.

The game vs Roma is live on Fox 2 in the morning. Interested to see how LVGs 3-5-2 formation holds up against a top club as there were good signs in the Galaxy game. Herrera looked amazing last time out also but doubt he plays a big part in this one as he played the whole 90 mins a few days ago.

Champions again! Pre-season hit out be damned, I'll take whatever I can get after last season. A win over Liverpool and a Mickey Mouse trophy will do nicely. :)

If you guys can fix your defence you'll be contenders. First 50 minutes was suicidal at times.

I like this new formation.

Even Asley Young is looking like a footballer.

I think we need to offload a few players, sign one more midfielder and we are good to go.

Use our younger players as squad cover.

Beating the scousers is always a bonus.
