I was trying frantically to change to Australian commentary but no dice. Being a season ticket holder, I can usually avoid this ridiculous commentary but not this time around.

Seriously, SKY obviously saw their senses with Wopo - why not these two clowns? Costo is a joke and Daryl is worse. And I think it's been talked about before, they fly these two around to commentate? Seriously crap.

Costo was terrible. He's bad enough with the warriors, but in tests he really grates. Not only do you have to put up with that commentry which is looped and repeated like it's from the videogame, but his rah-rahs about the Aussies and how amazing they are- a pass ends up being the most amazing thing he's ever seen and goes all orgazmic over it-Are annoying when he's supposed to be commentating for New Zealanders watching. It doesn't have to be weighted to the Kiwis, just balanced. Sky should go and poach some decent aussies to do it. Or the Maori TV team are pretty good.
There are such better options.

How do we get rid of these idiots? I too tried to get the bar manager to switch commentary, but ended up cursing these idiots throughout the whole game.

Maybe a facebook group such as "Jason Costigan is the worst sports commentator around" and then maybe Sky will take notice of the number of members frustrated with this clown!

I've always rated the guys on Maori TV over the sky crew to be honest.

Greg Clarke was good. He was a staunch RL man (Bronocs I think) before landing the RU commentator job in Aussie. Others to consider:

Maori TV crew - Husband / Barnett / Nikau etc

Ken Laban - currently doing RU but would be a good RL option

Would be nice to get a Kiwi commentator for the Kiwi games as opposed to Costo.

Like the suggestions of Laban - he'd be good, although I guess being based out of Wellington would be an issue. But now that I think of it, no more so than being based out of Rockhampton and Sydney!?!?

Big fan of Barnett so I'd like to see him more involved, and honestly they could have 'Commentary Idol' and pluck some fan out of the stand and I'd be more happy with the current crop. Or is that how we got to this point in the first place?

Mac said he likes Costo and usually does not rip into other fellow commentators but ...

he thought that Costo lacks knowledge of NZ players especially those from the past. The example he used was that Brian Neiblings nickname was Horse yet he could have mentioned Mark Bournville. He also referred to the fact that Costo continues to tell us Aussie players histories and never the Kiwis - Slater was a jockey, Inglis comes from Kempsey etc. I can't recall him telling us that Luke is from Hawera, Matai from Ponsonby etc.

Mac also hates Costo's cliches

Actually I thought the Kiwi's went very well. They would have taken a lot of positives out of that.
I really liked the pre-match indiginous entertainment - would have liked to see the whole thing.
Blair should be our top target.
Had to admire Hiho's front-on tackle on Inglis. That took courage.

It's been a hellova day for poor old costo...he's been paid out big time

Been flicking around stations on the radio today, getting bored staying on one specific one...
There was a couple of digs on 'Live sport' early, followed by the payout on Radio sport during the Telfer morning, then switched to a music station just after lunch (The Rock I think), who were taking the piss out of costo as well, then back to Miles on Radio sport after 2pm- And again Costo came up as the first subject (despite the All whites being named!). Davis said there'd been complaints flooding in all day about Costos commentry in the test, reports are sky has been flooded with complaints, and the had taken way more calls on the commentry than the game itself!
Switched over the FM after 3 for a music channel-and stumbled onto Radio Live talkback (JT/Willie/Lonergan)...and on that station the calls were on the games commentry as well!:lol:
