The Storm are the most boring team in the NRL. They come from the AFL capital of the world :)lol:), their team is made up entirely of ex-pats and their style of play is boring, defence-oriented wrestling, laced with a bit of Smith/ Slater grubbery. Occasionally (very occasionally) there is a flash of entertaining play from Billy the Cat or Big Game, but other than that, they are a yawn.

Would love to see a different side in the GF this year. The 00's was the decade that everybody (bar their fans) got sick of seeing either Easts or Melbourne in the decider.

Early nomination for stupidest post of 2010.

Tbh Melbourne's demolition of Manly in Wk 1 of the Finals campaign was one of the most impressive things I'd seen in a long time. Just awesome to watch.

I'm not sure what's worse angry. The Chemical Stench of the Yangtze or the human filth of the Ganges. Atleast the Ganges has some grandeur about it.
The Yarra is worse. Far worse. Indians wouldn't be seen dead in the Yarra.

I hardly call Victorian youth teams making finals and beating NSW teams along the way a pointless waste of time.
Victorian youth? Which Victorian youth? Are there any from Victoria?

The main losers from a Melbourne team being in the comp is NSW when it comes to Origin. With Queensland players offered another option aside from the Broncos, it meant that Queenslands first grade playing roster to choose from became suddenly larger.
They must be the thick Queenslanders if they have never head of Gold Coast or North Queensland.

Also, didn't know there was a ban on Queenslanders playing with other clubs. Seemingly, neither did Brent Tate, Darius Boyd, Nate Myles, etc.

Ok, we geddit. You are completely stupid and want to share that fact with the entire world.

I hope the Storm continue to be successfull and win comps, I couldnt care less how much money they get given per year from news limited give $100 million per year I couldnt care less.

Blah blah level playing field blah blah blah..... Good luck to them I say.
We have established that you are anything but a Panther's fan ages ago.

Umm they have bigger crowed averages than alot of the Sydney teams,.....

Agree i just wish murdoch gave my club $100mil, oh thats right he already tried that and no one wanted it.
Given that you want Parra to merge, it's no surprise you'd want them to sell their soul and play in a dud comp.

There is no way that you are a Parra supporter with some of the garbage that you have come up with lately.

I think the Storm desperately need a star player to come through that is from Victoria... a good hooker, half, centre or fullback. It would be excellent for their media exposure.

Concidering their success in junior grades, it might not be that far off.

I agree with others who have mentioned that there is more of a Storm presence in Victoria. On about the 20 Dec walking around the city, I counted 7 items of Storm supporters gear being worn, to 11 AFL all clubs.

I am not suggesting we are beating AFL, but that the Storm are becoming a viable team in their own right, carving a strong niche. Last year they had close to 10k members. better than most Sydney clubs. They have a brilliant new stadium. They will be membership owned and run if the IC gets up.

If we can get them on Free to Air at a decent hour their support will only grow. Midnight is a bit late to capture hearts and minds of kids.

Melbourne have a very strong and important future for League. You must have blinkers on if you can't see it.

Totally agree.

However, I remember a similar experience in NZ in 1989 around the South island - there were Tigers, Raiders, Manly jerseys and other Sydney clubs everywhere - not many Awl Blicks. It reflected the mood and promotion of the times. Call it a trend in fyou like.

Sydney had the same thing with the Swans, which has now dwindled. Melbourne have to keep plugging away - and their greatest priority is developing Victorians into grade players. They were slow to start this - and I dunno if they put any $ into it anyway. But they need to - it needs to be their no. 1 passion.

Are your eyes painted on?
Watch the 2009 GF again. Check out the decoys, attacks on the fringe and Inglis's sublime display.

Inglis is raw power. True they have some very talented attacking players in their side, but the Storm as a whole play a brand of football that doesn't allow them to show it off very often.

Granted, having the Storm do well is unquestionably better than having them struggle, considering the market they are in, however they have a small fan-base and are located in an area where the greater population don't even follow the code. Hopefully the feeling of community support and being a true team of the people will increase when they get more of a free go in the media down there and we start seeing Victorians in the NRL side.

That's a pretty ridiculous statement which you know isn't true. The reason it has taken so long to get juniours through isn't because the storm haven't tried or spent any money. It's because the game simply didn't exist in Melbourne before the storm arrived.

I think the fact that the game in Melbourne has moved so far forward with practically no help from the NRL or tv coverage shows that the storm are really trying.

I would have thought agreeing to allow News Ltd subsidise your club to the tune of $6-8 million per year, and they have agreed to continue to let all the other 15 clubs continue to subsidise your club to the above amount under the new IC.

I would have thought you would be a little more gracious considering all the help you do get. I for one wished our club got this kind of help from the sports 2 owners.

Well good for you. I seem to recall many of us questioning your allegiences on prior threads given your eagerness to promote Melbourne.

I have no idea what funds Melbourne put into junior development - if any. I thought the ARL foundation did most of the legwork down there.

I am sorry I have to disagree, his statement isn't exactly as ridiculous as you think. It has taken so long to get junior through partly because Melbourne Storm didn't start putting money and effort into it straight away. It has only been the last few years that the Storm have started putting in a good effort into the junior system and supporting the VRL.
The VRL and then existant MJRL got diddly squat from the Melbourne Storm when they first started and only lately have they started working together to develop some Victorian juniors.

It's because the game simply didn't exist in Melbourne before the storm arrived.
To say the game did not exist in Melbourne before the Storm arrived is pretty much a slap in the face to the people who worked hard trying to keep the VRL running don't you think?

I think the fact that the game in Melbourne has moved so far forward with practically no help from the NRL or tv coverage shows that the storm are really trying.
Yes they are really trying now, but that wasn't always the case. Don't get me wrong I am not being a hater, because I love the Melbourne Storm and understand that the most important thing when the team first started was to be sucessful on the field but they could've done a lot more than they did.

Thanks Melbourne Belle. Having supported a club with a great reputation for supporting the juniors, I don't think Melbourne cut the mustard in this area until Waldron came along.

Why not? I'm not thrilled about it either, but they certainly aint pretenders. I actually thought they were ripped off in 06 - they were the better side and I thought Slater should have been CC medallist. Last year they showed the right attitude in the gf - no other side could have been as professional as they were on the day. My mob made plenty of nervous mistakes - but I'm happy they still scared sh*t out of 'em.

If they make it again, I'll probably go for the other mob, but you have to give them the respect due. They haven't cheated the cap like others have, or had undue help from HQ like others (remember the salary cap of the early 1990's? You had to include your reserve grade side in the cap - if you had one!)

I just wish Bellamy could coach rep games.

And I also wish they would jag decent crowds!
