mayb the nrl could come up wth something that is attractive to nz tv and helps here ie every Friday 6pm Friday game (aest) is played in NZ. That way fta could lock in that time slot for fta coverage and know it will feature 12 warriors games plus say another 6-10 games the nrl supports to be played in nz by other teams. Spreads the game in nz, grows interest in the gam in one of the codes most important nurseries and starts to lay the platform for future expansion.
Warriors have come out and said the Friday 6pm slot (8pm NZ) has hurt them for crowds. They’re not in favour of playing the majority of their games at that time.
6pm Friday, if we are going to persist with it in the next broadcast deal should be for any regional games

then give them a bigger slice of a better nz tv deal!
It’s is their crowds are pretty avg whatever day so losing 1k on a Friday night co red to a Saturday night doesn’t hurt too much

People travel 2-3 hours to see the Warriors, it’s no different to the Cowboys who want Saturday games.

their crowds range 12-17k and seems the opposition is a bigger factor than the day played when you look at their crowds on different fixture days this year with some Friday games outdrawing some Saturday and Sunday games.

I think you may have something there.

To be fair, the Warriors themselves don't like the timeslot, but if the NRL sweeten it by saying "we'll be happy with you having half your home games there", and offering the Warriors the timeslot of their choice for the other 6, PLUS some TV money, PLUS another game or 2 somewhere else in NZ (those games being thwir oppositions home games), then maybe...?

Yes this, more games in other areas of NZ, for the away side, like the sea eagles Christchurch match and tigers trail last year, would be good

they don’t like it because it knocks a couple of thousand off the gate. The nrl, with a better tv deal, could offer the warriors an extra $80k a game to compensate for lost ticket sales. Nrl needs to get much smarter and more flexible in the way it does business with clubs to benefit the game overall.

then $300k enticement for clubs to move a home game to nz. That’s 20 Friday games in nz. Get the tv deal up to $25mill a year and it covers this cost and a bit more and nz finally gets some nrl love in a strategic way.

What if the Bears come back via 2nd Nz team, not sure if this has been brough up in previous pages, keep the heritage, name a stand after Mark Graham, play out of Auckland, and get the Warriors to travel around NZ for half their matches to Christchurch, Wellington, Dunedin, Hamilton, etc..
Make the warriors really earn that NEW Zealand Title they have, more junior players join feed into the Bears team,
They keep the RED and Black, and Warriors revert to Green White and Blue of old as they already are,
Can Start the side in the Canterbury Cup as they are as Norths here in Sydney, but Play out of Auckland for a year, then promote them along with Redcliffe Dolphins into the NRL 2023, then following TV deal for 2028 make efforts to get a Perth and Adelaide Club,

Yeah what a waste, i dont see gold coast lasting longer than another 5 years
You do realise that to begin with every brand is 'plastic' and lacks "heritage" right?

Imagine where the Panthers would be now if people were so willing to kick them to the curb in their early days before enough generations had passed before their club was considered prestigious because of it's "heritage".

I mean the Panthers served up 20 years of absolute garbage before they came good, by the standards that the Titans are held to they would have been written off as a failure and given the axe before they hit double digits.

Yep.

North Island Warriors - Blue, green & white. Most games in Auckland, 1 game per year in Wellington, 1 game in Hamilton - trial games in places like Palmerston North, Rotorua, Napier etc

South Island Bears - Red & Black. Most games in Christchurch, 1 or 2 per year in Dunedin. Trials in Nelson or Westport.

Easy peasy.

Actually i was thinking the opposite keep norths in the north Island, and warriors travelling the south island and all around,
Keeping that nickname aswell as bolstering Auckland into a somewhat a game nearly every week

That's the worry, we've waited this long for "expansion" and we'll end up getting 2 more average NSW/QLD clubs like Redcliffe and the Bears. Then 10 years down the line if we ever have decent administration it will be that much harder to get Perth, Adelaide, NZ2 etc across the line and Brisbane 2 we do have will be poorly done because we wasted 2 extra spots of sub-par options to appeal to people who already support the game (or in most cases a club).

Forget about it
The game isn't capable of attracting good administration. If they accidentally get involved in spite of all the resistance, the game spits them out because they arent real "league people"

Run by bogans for bogans.
