The branding for the GC name was put to a vote. I don't remember the other options. I think Crocodiles or Aligators was an option.
Not my first choice either but it's the one they ended up with. Can't change it now. Since Dolphins was ruled out, Marlins would probably have been my choice. Should have been something aquatic I feel.

Seems Florimo is gonna need a bigger piggy bank. LOL.

Move North Sydney Oval to the GC.Problem solved.Giant fig tree,WW1 stands, cricket pitch in the centre, the GC crowds would love it.

And 2 metre in goals with tackle bags in the corners against the fence for protective padding.

Gold coast was going to be called DOLPHINS. since there was the Radcliffe DOLPHINS already in the q cup they couldn't use it. BURLEIGH BEARS!

They're better options because they're actually GC based, headed by business men with a vested interest in seeing a GC based NRL team succeed.

The Bears don't want a GC team to succeed. They want the license to eventually relocate the whole thing to Gosford. They know as much as anyone a re-branding will kill support for the team on GC.

How do we know this if we don't know who they are?

(I'm open here to there being other info about them out there)

Maybe south Queensland Titans and take a couple of home games to Suncorp

Yep. Plus change their jerseys to something more recognisable (like the Bears old colours), get a Qld superstar like Cronk or Corey Norman. They could be successful yet.

We have no need to do that at all. Our setup is perfect for us the way it is atm. We have a foothold on the North Coast and most people don't realise we also have a very strong presence on the South Coast as well, with a partnership between Easts Leagues and the Bateman's Bay area i think it is, much to the anger of the Illawarra Dragons. I don't think people realise what Uncle Nick has done for our club. We own (outright) so much property in the Eastern Suburbs(at at least double the value of any other area in Sydney), Western Subs, Northern Subs and Southern Subs of Sydney, North Coast and South Coast we are financially setup for one hell of a long time, even when Nick decides to call it a day. Mark Bouris is waiting in the wings to take over anyway, and probably will next decade. And we also have access to two very strong Junior areas on the North and South Coast. We have no need to change anything at all.

We are known as the glamour club from Bondi, and I can assure you we would lose that reputation if we moved to or moved half our games to the Central Coast and it would definitely destroy us completely. There's more to running a club than crowds and juniors, image is everything to our club. It just isn't going to happen, simply for financial reasons. Who the hell would want to invest in a club from the Central Coast, when you can invest in a club from the Eastern Suburbs and City area itself ? I doubt we'd find many sponsors willing to part with their money for a club based on the CC. I doubt any club would if they wanted to move there. It's a financial graveyard area, and we ain't a bunch of suckers.

Most of that is great and doesnt need to change. But why protect small crowds and demonise potentially larger crowds??

The general vibe is great and all, but im pretty sure sponsors like people looking at them and a bum in a seat is plain cash for the club.

Im not saying leave the Easts. But moving a few games wont kill the club (you do it already and you seem to go ok), a club with shitty crowds should probably look at a chance to investing in developing support. Youve had 110 years in sydney and you still only get 10-15k a game.

Maybe its time to leave you eastern suburbs and stread the club a bit...

Ofcourse you conveniently left out that the Panthers don't change their name or logo. But hey never let that stay in the way of a good argument..............

I take your point though. A name change would be a big thing...

Honestly, i reckon they should just call themselves Gold Coast RLFC (or even South Queensland RLFC), ditch the cartoon gladiator logo and just go for letters.

Keep it simple and let a nickname develop naturally (maybe Titans sticks, maybe something else becomes popular). But whatever it is, it will have a sense of club culture and itll be something the fans feel ownership of.

Maybe its time you expansionist freaks stopped telling rich, successful clubs what to do.

If it was up to you blokes, you'd destroy the game in 2-3 years like Superleague almost did. Here's the truth, no one in Sydney gives a shit about your shit expansion clubs and without Sydney and its teams that bring in the big money there is no league, and Superleague proved it. You got raped in the ratings and begged to come back. Go on try it again and lets see what happens again. This time none of you will be invited back.

Roosters arent a successful club, they are a successful corporation that owns an average football team...

You talk about how wonderful all of your clubs assets are. Well they will be just as wonderful with you playing anywhere else. In terms of pure fan engagment and promotion of the sport, you team is middle of the pack at best
