One of my favourite players, with the heart of phar lap.
Good luck Nighty,

St George Illawarra Dragons winger Jason Nightingale will approach his milestone 150th first-grade appearances as ‘just another game’ when he faces the South Sydney Rabbitohs at ANZ Stadium, Olympic Park on Monday.
The local Renown United junior made his first-grade debut for the Club in round eight of the 2007 campaign against the Penrith Panthers and has scored 63 tries to date.
The Red-and-Whites will take to the field for the first time since the bye weekend, which, according to the New Zealand international, came at the perfect time for the team.
“You have to treat it as another game” said Nightingale.
“It’s exciting that you reach these milestones and it gives you a point of reflection once you’ve finished your career, but for now it’s important to just concentrate on the task at hand.
“The milestone 150 games is a big thing, but winning on Monday would be better.
“The results haven’t been perfect recently so it was nice to have a break, but everyone’s come back now and they’re enjoying training and looking forward to the big game against the Rabbits.
“There’s eight weeks until the finals now, and everyone knows that if we’re going to get anywhere near there we need to be switched on and performing at our best week-in-week-out.
“Souths are certainly a daunting task and the last time we played them was the Charity Shield.
“They were good then and they haven’t wavered since.
“They’re the competition benchmark, and it’s a big challenge for us, but we know that a victory against such a good side could be the confidence boost we need to kick start our season.

The Dragons will be without the services of prop Dan Hunt for the remainder of the season following surgery to his knee this week.
“It’s a shame for Dan, he’s a good player and a good leader out there, and we will no doubt miss him,” said Nightingale.
“But it gives an opportunity to someone else to step up and fill the void now, and fortunately for us front row is one position where we do have a bit of depth.”

Always, low key and always busting his chops, never in the papers for the wrong reason, always lifts when he has to, just one hell of a guy and a great talent. We are lucky to have this guy and his attitude is one i want my son to undertake.
What a champion, in a poorly performing side.
