Overall the team dug in well and apart from their traditional attacking flair muscled up in defence and were in Parra's face all match. Some of those hits were real bell ringers.

Everyone had a good game and I reckon Teflon would be mad to tinker with them for the moment - let them settle down. The only question mark remains over Cayless- his interchange value is neglible at present. He must only have another game or two to prove his worth before he is dropped and another given a chance.

Goal kicking? If Teflon is not worried about it, he should be. Benji might have been injured and not 100% but Teflon has to start looking at other options within the squad if Benji is having a bad day. Did anyone else notice the mentality with Benji's last try? Despite poor goal; kicking he did not even try to spott he ball closer to the sticks when he could ahve brought it in another metre or two closer to the sticks. I'm sorry but thats basic 101 support play for your goal kicker- make it as easy as possible. Yes, I know Benji was to be the goal kicker but it shows he/they are not thinking................

You need someone to tell you what he did out there eh?

OK.

I suppose the sublime grubber he put through for Ashford to score in the 15th minute doesn't count? Not that it was a crucual position or anything - the score 4-0, 10m out and with nothing on?

And while we're on the subject, if you have the game recorded, take a look at the pass he throws Marshall (after ordinary service by Farrah) that leads to the Flanagan wrap around try. A bullet 20m torpedo that lands smack on Marshall's chest, the Parra cover defence given no chance to get across.

And what is it about the body language of this team that seems to fire up when this guy's in the thick of it?

Not liking a player for the sake of it is understandable but ultimately kinda dumb. Show some intelligence and get over it.

That was his first 1st grade game at half for quite a spell and against quality opposition.

Draw your own conclusions.
Westie might also want to re watch the game and check his defence out as well. His defence for first class, especialy against a big strong side like parra.

The kick didn't matter, the game was beyond doubt. I think he just wanted to own Grothe by stepping that side.

And not only was he good at 7 but we looked so much better with someone else playing 1.

The kick might matter at the end of season when for and against comes into play.

Apparently leaving enough money in your salary cap for a goalkicker does not matter to some pork chops on this board however, as long as Lote is here the rest doesn't matter.

How good would Krisnan Inu look playing for us converting Tuqiri and Tuiaki from the sideline?

Coming off the interchange bench just to kick, eh?

I just watched it again and my opinion went further down-hill. The amount of ineffective tackles he comes up with is amazing. He just isn't strong enough to bring a player to the ground.

I actually thought at stages watching the replay that i'd missed him go off the field because he didn't even appear in the wide shot. He was playing his standard right side fullback game from the first two rounds. Gibbs and Payten were legitimately more heavily involved in moving the ball in the middle of the park than he.

On a very positive note, watching from behind the sticks - Benji is clearly starting to mature as a footballer. He took the right options to create trys last night where in previous seasons he'd have frustrated every one. It's starting to get to the point where Farah and Benji can finally take control of games without a halfback... but I'll still maintain we need a settling influence in the tough games. We'll need another option come the business end of the season.

Benji is starting to Mature- Thanks Scoop- captain obvious.....

He bought Tahu down 1 on 1 and he pushed up on Poore causing him to Fumble- If you think he should be dropped who steps in? The kid was a Junior kangaroo - now we are 6 from 6 with him and Benji in the halves...

I thought the same thing - cut Fitzy, Brown, Daneilla and Cayless- Sign Inu would seem like a no brainer- I think on stats he is in the top 3-4 kickers in the game, plus a great attacker and was positioned well in defence last night. Also we wouldn't miss him for origin so another bonus....

Moltzen is the future for us at halfback imo. As for Inu, I would cut Fitzy, Brown, Daniella, Cayless and add Moors and Heighington to that list if it meant signing Inu and re-signing Lawrence.

1/ Inu
2/ Tuiaki
3/ Lawrence
4/ Ayshford
5/ Tuqiri
6/ Marshall
7/ Moltzen

This backline has premiership written all over it imo.

Surely we could keep Hino and Lawrence plus Inu after cutting that bunch...but I'd sign Hino lastly....or go for Lima...am I getting Greedy....

Ryan could be our solution at fullback though.

Ryan is a better fullback than Moltzen based on last nights performance, he is not afraid to run the ball back hard and his positional play was decent even though he wasn't truly tested with a good kicking game. Ryan has no future on the wing if Tuiaki comes back fit. That said, I think we NEED a kicker, so Mullaney may have to be considered.

Lima would be very nice but I am starting to think Gibbs, Payten and Galloway can do the job with Ellis backing them up and some young guns like Fifita and Schirnack there for depth.

Goalkicking could cost us dearly come September - Inu will be playing for another club next year, and I would love it to be the Tigers.

That applies to all teams - those still standing in September...

I was hinting at depth. Sheens has gone out and looked to get some depth in the backline this year after it screwed us in the past. He's signed some dross like Daneila but it's clearly not his intention to gamble on not getting any injuries all year.
