His constant ref whingeing and NRL had singlehandedly contributed to damaging the game more then any individual.

He will often dwell on something for an entire half.

He cares little for the game and more for personal agendas.

Every single person involved in the game, every single poster on this site has an agenda and an opinion. He is a boofhead but I think deep down he loves the game and any negativity he has for the game is a result of the complete ineptitude of the administrators of the game - which is really no different to what the majority of fans can see with their own eyes.

There is no difference. The Ivan Cleary contract at Wests Tigers was finished because both parties agreed it was finished, with an agreed consideration changing hands.

And it appears by using the word consideration that you are trying to actual make a cognizant contractual argument. You clearly have no idea. I do this for a living. You can not introduce NEW consideration into a contract. You cant simply keep doing things not under the contract as long as there is new consideration. At best the contract was frustrated due to the fact that that with Cleary & O'Neills background disgrace Cleary had probably lost the dressing room but in this case the frustration is illegal and without compensation there will be court action. Dont make shit up you dont understand.

None of us nerds have any influence though.

He does.

With great power... you know the rest

It’s easy to be critical when you have no responsibility for making the decisions and don’t present viable alternatives. Take expansion, Gus suggested a twenty team two conference solution with one conference all Sydney teams. What a stupid idea!

Turned it around and saved it. And one has to than James Packer. If it wasn't for his $20 million lend to the club, we would have probably been folded up, or maybe gone to Perth.
What rubbish, assets worth in the hundreds of millions yet $20 saved them from foreclosure? they also received $29 million in 2013 from Mounties for the De amalgamation of the Triglav and Mekong clubs, those two clubs have now become an absolute cash cow for Mounties and then they spent that money to build a centre of excellence for the juniors in an era where developing juniors doesn't have much correlation to actual success...

Yes but every great player ever produced during the modern era was part of a junior club once........

Whilst they had significant assets they had serious cash flow and future investment issues. The cash helped them out, as did a $50million loan from the bank and selling off their pokie revenues for a period. Whilst turned around they still have greater liabilities than assets and lost $6mill last year but their secure revenue and future projects will see them right as long as none of them go tits up.

Mind you I've just read eels report and the NRL eels have lost over $26million in last 3 seasons! Ouch!

I think this is over stated a bit.
Eg:
He plays a big part in ref blaming, which is horrible for the NRL.
He basically sank the Auckland Nines with his negative articles the year it folded.
He was a big advocate for the starting of the National under 20s then death rode it.

In terms of his standing as a coach he got lucky for NSW and basically Fittler and Johns made his career.
Also, he was the biggest single critic of the ref's crackdown last year.
It was starting to work - teams were actually starting to stay onside and the ruck was clearing, we saw people play the ball properly - but his constant harassment (to the level of abuse) broke Greenberg and he turned on the refs and blamed them for being over-zealous. Now look at the shit fight we've got; players laying on forever, the wrestle is the worst we've seen it and defenders are constantly off side. Penalties are a lottery.

Thanks for nothing Gus.

There was a lot more to it than that. We were seeing 20 penalties per game and then Origin 1 came with 5 penalties in game 1 and 30 over the series. The crackdown didn't apply to the showpiece game. This lost the NRL credibility and ultimately led to the crackdown ending soon after, although it did appear to return in the latter rounds.

Mekong was always a cash cow - one the best purchases Panthers ever made. Sold to Mounties - with Triglav - for a figure that was probably 30% below what it should have been. Get rid of a cash cow and build a money drain - it costs around $1m a year just to keep the doors of the Academy open and it has no possibility of an ROI, at least not directly.

Yep 100%, Mekong always has been a goldmine but funny thing is Triglav is the 3rd most profitable club in NSW on a per machine basis, they actually overtook their parent club Mounties in this ranking
