Goodbye my good man peach - favourite Peachey memories

This thread is brilliant! It has highlighted all the reasons that makes Peach a legend of the club. When ET left I didn't think there would be any player that could encompass all the qualities that he did as a player and a bloke. But Peach DID!! He supplied the same moments of sheer brilliance on the field both in attack and defence as ET did. He always maintained the sense of pride and dignity that ET carried and was alwayys approachable and friendly to the fans that he met. (this has been shown by the stories here and I have had the same friendly interactions with him...as I had with ET)

Deadsh*ts like Hoppa will never know what it means to ooze class and that day when he patted Peach on the head and was a complete jerk angered me greatly!! You would never see Peach do something like that!

I HATED the fact that selectors NEVER gave him the rep games he deserved!! There is no way Ross deserved the selection for the blues ahead of Peach (and i am not saying Ross did not deserve selection.he was very good).

But in true form Peach never got bitter, never did the Mundine thing of crying racism etc..

He has given the game and this club so much that whatever he earned wasn't enough IMO.

Put simply the man is a legend and a champion both on and off the field, just like the great ET. ET couldnt get the premiership he deserved and I wish more than anything that Peach gets it this season..as we all do!!!

As much as I love the sharks, without ET and now Peach...there is a definate void!!!

(sorry to keep mentioning ET so often but it is in my opinion a great compliment to rate any player on the same level as him...and Peach deserves to be spoken of in the same light.)

All you people planning better wait till a bit later because the last Toyota game for Peachey will be a home semi if the Sharks snare a place in the top 4.

Ok, I dont have any new memories to add to the thread - The 10m intercept, the try against Penrith, the beaming smile - They're all pure gold and I had to register my appreciation for the great man. I also think it's fitting that we acknowledge these things now while we still have have the chance to watch the Peach go around and appreciate what a great talent he is.

We'll miss you Peach, In an age of pre-programmed footballing robots you reminded us why we support the game, why we love it and why we'll keep coming back.

Too many moments, perhaps there should be a DVD of Peachey highlights, it would make a great addition to anyone's collection.

Never met the man, but a work mate met David through his involvement in National Tree Day a couple of years ago. He isn't a footy fan but was very impressed by Dave and his sincerity and enthusiasm.

I liked Peachey's 90 metre try against Penrith. Also his intercpet of a Robbie O'Davis pass to Darren Albert.

That purple patch of form in 2001 was the last time watching the Sharks was really fun.

Wouldn't believe it, they played "Winds of Change" on the radio up here today. Thought immediately of this thread and Peachey.

That song and David Peachey are now irrevocably connected...

Actually I hadn't seen this footage before of the great Peach, but apparently back in the 1996 Semi Finals against the Broncs he scored that unbelievable try from a sweeping scrum move on the 50 metre line, and what a scrum attack it was. And what pace from a young Peachey at the time. This is one of my favourite moments of the Peach. I have so many others though.

I was lucky enough to meet him on a number of occasions but the most memorable was of last year's when he turned up at my university, and grabbed a photo for the moment. It was an unbelievable day! You can view the photo by clicking on my sharks site banner below.

Peachey - my favourite Sharks player of all time - I'll miss ya! We all will! You've left us with awesome memories!!

This Has brought back some great memories. Peachey was, and still is a class act .Ill never forget the try from the scrum against the Broncos in the semi.As others have said his unique style in itself is an unforgettable memory. It would be great to see Sharks give him a good send off this year.. the way hes playing right now I think he just may be a sensation in England next year too !

Too be honest i thought of this about 2 years back. Titled: Peachey's highlight reel. Awesome it would be.

I remember 1996 vs Manly at toyota watching a Friday nighter and the kicked the ball down near the corner post, Peach strolls over with his longish hair, casually picks it up and does an aswesome run up field, with Rabs calling it. Probably the very first memory i had of him. No other player in have a seen has had such grace on the field. Up there with the Steve Ella and Brett Kenny.

Iwas pretty upset when ET retired but no one and i mean no one will ever replace the PEACH.
