Goodbye my good man peach - favourite Peachey memories

i'd have to say 2001, Cronulla vs the Knights at Shark Park

robbie o'davis picks up the ball from a kick 10m out from the line, throws a regulation pass to his winger... and out of nowhere Peach swoops in, plucks the ball from the air and strolls nonchalantly over the line.

i always love when he beats opposite fullbacks, like the try he scored against Minichello last year.

Funnily enough, one of my other favourite memories is the game where he ignored hayne and kept walking. hard toe explain, it just showed the pride he has as a cronulla player and a person, that he wouldnt let some wanker rookie walk over him or the club he represented as captain.

I recall one game when Craig Wing first joined the Rorters.
It was pissing down at Shark park and C.Wing was playing fullback.
Peachey gave him a lesson that night and true to the Peaches nature was almost apologetic.

The Hayne thing would have to my least favourite Peach memory. Not because I thought that David had done anything wrong, but completely because of how disgusted I was with how one man had inflicted the worst defeat on the Sharkies in the club's history, and he wasn't even a player!

* THAT game against the Knights. Peach reigned supreme.
* The victory laps around the ground, led by the Great Man
* Speaking to him at the Vinyl Room, when he was dancing with all these single mums. Classic stuff.

The intercept try from 10m out against the Knights came into my mind also..
The try against the Panthers was great..
Just watching him on the field, his a freak and a Champion..
He'll be missed..

The absolutely 'safe as houses' feeling I had in my stomach every time anyone bombed to him.

Peach is rock solid under the high ball, and he never made me doubt it.

hahaha! it wasn't even an intercept try. robbie e'davis just passed it to peach. no intercepts. just a brain snap

and yeah basically that game was one of his finest

Oh, and sneaking that try while Robbie O watched the ball *almost* roll over the dead ball line during the 64 - 14 destruction of Newcastle.

Peach was nowhere to be seen, but then he managed to somehow get his lanky frame around Robbie O to touch the ball for a try......

He always manages to come from out of nowhere in those 'ball rolling in the in goal' situations.

The gazelle-like gate as he lopes across to take a bomb safely in his elongated arms, then turning in a wide arc, taking long fluid strides as he slices back upfield on the kick-return...

SFS , he scored at the southern end, towards the south west side I guess.

Came from our scrum feed, it was the fat the launh of SUperl League, I remember being near Michael O'connor in the western stand watching it.

It was like it was in slow motion, Green, Healy, Green, Et, Green, PEACHEY !!!!!

Untouched through the bronco line TRY TIME !!!!

I rememeber when he was picked for origin, and a reporter asked him at a press conference if he was happy that he was in the team, he replied with 'mate, cant you see the smile on my face.' I love that, he was always so happy when he played, and you could always tell.

Yeah I remember being so proud of him when he scored the match winning try for the Blues.

I remember he was another Sharks player to feel the warmth of the selectors loyalty, I don't think he ever played Origin again.
