Michael Gordon's future at the Panthers is in doubt, with the NSW Origin star to consider quitting the club if new coach Ivan Cleary ignores his request to play fullback.

In a dramatic development just weeks out from the NRL season-opener, Gordon has already had one release request denied and is likely to leave the club if he is kept on the wing.

New Penrith Panthers coach Ivan Cleary last night confirmed his dilemma, with Gordon's ultimatum having the potential to place young gun Lachlan Coote on the outer.

Cleary admitted Gordon had sought a release from the Panthers after fielding offers from both Gold Coast Titans and Wests Tigers.

Well if Flanno is to blame for this then I'll join the lynch party but this does sound very similar to the dummy spit at the Panthers. Even though he has said nothing to the press about what position he plays in the team (this time around) It's funny that it correlates with his switch to the wing.

We'll find out soon enough.

If the rlpa think there is ground for this due to the text messages between Flanno and his manager it all comes back to Flanno. I bet he gave the switch the go ahead and the version he told reporters is bullshit. Lyall comes home and finds out what Flanno has been up to and stops it.

Why else would Gordon go to Parramatta expecting to train that day?

Flanno is a cancer.

Sounds like it's not flano that stopped him going to parra .
I don't know why everyone thinks it's the coachs fault .

Hands up who thinks he is better than val Barba
If his ego could cope with playing wing he'd be fine.

Lyall shouldn't have stopped it especially if they weren't offering Gordon a contract next season.

Seems like flanno was doing the right thing by gordon

All I'm saying is that he threatened to quit prior to this over \his posi in the team. After receiving offers from other clubs, only difference this time around it was a week before the season started but still under contract.

Anyway back to the lynching.

well.
story to me reads like this

Gordon has thrown a tanty, because he didn't get his release to play at Parramatta, because the cowboy coach who said to him that he could go dindt go up the chain of command and discuss it with the CEO, who would likely have said no, and said no.

so now, he's cracked the shits.

and walked off.

messy. as per

Yeah doing the wheeling and dealing behind Lyall's back.

Good intentions maybe but stupidity at its best.

Flanno even stated Gordon was ruled out of warriors game because of shoulder injury. Blatant lie to all especially financial members

Flanno is the coach flanno is responsible for results on the field, flannos results hinge on who he picks for his squad.

Lyalls job is to get sponsors and take care of the administration, not who plays where and who doesn't play.

Gordon is a massive sook.

I agree if he wanted out let him go. Who needs players that don't want to be at the club especially ones that really are not that good anymore. However he signed a contract and of the CEO says he has to stay he should honour that contract and stop being a little bitch because he isn't the best fullback anymore.

I can't wait for the next club he goes to decides he is shit as well and he retires for good.

Good riddance.
