just because we recruited poorly and paid overs for players not in favor with ricky doesnt mean we are somehow unique
um, actually, we got the players we did because of Ricky, not in spite of him. All player managers use Cronulla as an example in the media. Maybe sometimes Canberra, but not them anymore because they are totally flush with cash.
Every player manage says that for a player to go to Cronulla, Cronulla has to pay overs. & that is with every coach since even prior to Lang. How does that not make us unique? Dumb question actually, it is clearly evident we are unique. The "poor recruitmen" you mentioned has nothing to do with ricky at all, as any player manager will say. It is all about opportunities for their clients in non league areas first & foremost. Justin Poore is a classic example of the unique situation the Sharks find themsleves in. After finishing first in 2008 the Sharks targetted at least 4 good front rowers & made offers. Really good offers higher than all of the other clubs. In the case of poore we had to get the leagues club to underwrite the football club offer. In the end they all said no & went to other clubs. So ricky had to hang around & wait to see what was left on the heap after all the other clubs spent their "caps".
There are no players not in favor with Ricky, wtih the exception of Kimmorley. But Kimmorley does not have many friends & put many sharks players offside upon his arrival at the Sharks. Ie. the Graham incident that ended up finishing grahams career. Little merkin deadshyte.
