So Stuart won because of the hard work Murray did then ?

Don't you know how great Gould is? Despite not having coached the Roosters since 1999 Gould is responsible for all their success between 2000 and 2004 and no doubt he'll be responsible for any success Freddy has in the future.

Not at all. When Murray took over from Gould, Gould had left the place in excellent shape. When Stuart took over from Murray, the Roosters were a hopeless rabble and their key player -- Brad Fittler -- was stale and wanted to retire.

Stuart turned all that around.

I could be wrong here but didn't Stuart take over the season after Murray took the team to a grand final ?

That is correct... you are wrong.

Stuart took over in 2002 after Murray was sacked. He didn't have a full off season as coach in 2000 and inherited Gould's structures. Much the same as he rode Sheens coat-tails @ the Cowgirls.

By 2001 the Roosters defensive structures had been dismantled by his incompetence. Like most Roosters fans I got sick of Murray fronting press conferences talking about how well the side went after a loss.

Henry will do well in Townsville, Murray should resign.

I stand corrected.

Murray rode no coat tails up here, if anything he inherited Sheens $hithouse regime that he had in place and it is a credit to him what he has done to the club. This year was a write off the minute he got sacked for next year, the cowboys board are a bunch of morons. I think Neil Henry will do good up here, but the whole handling of this has been amatuerish and I can't blame raiders fans for hating us/Henry over it all as well, they are well within their rights IMO.

To say Muzz rode on the coattails of Sheens is the MOST f**king hilarious dribble Ive ever read on these forums. The Cowboys were f**king joke when Muzz took over, (he took over from Murray Hurst by the way)

So did Sheens ride on the coattails of Terry Lamb or Wayne Pearce at the Tigers also???

Murray inherited good cattle.

That goes a long way to a making a football club.

Murray is hopeless.

You are a f%$king a$$ clown. He inherited the biggest bunch of no hopers ever assembled in the NRL in 2002, to suggest otherwise shows a complete lack of knowledge of our history and situation. Take your pro Roosters $hit elsewhere.

As always Beave, You have hit the nail on the head...Ok Here goes..

Graham Murray (2002-2008): The best that the Cowboys ever had
Murray Hurst (2001-2002): Too friendly with the players
Tim Sheens(1997-2001): He was only there "to make the club look good"
Grahame Lowe(1996): Meh
Grant Bell (1995): Dunno but his nose is obviously so far up Kirwan High (pfft - I wouldn't even consider sending a rodent to that joint)

As far as I am concerned...BRING BACK FRANK STANTON OR DENNIS KEEFE

How is he "proven" right? History will judge whether this was a good decision or not.

Im pretty optimistic about our future, but whats to say we dont win the next 10 wooden spoons in a row? Would Gould be proven right then?

read the article without the bias, and tell me he is wrong. No-one is trying to say muzz has done a bad job.

Gould was right. Murray should have asked for his cash and left. So should have Brown. Problem is that both of them want to coach and love the sides they are coaching. I feel sorry for Murray, i hope he gets another job soon.

Gould wasn't proven "right" he was just being Captain Obvious.

Nothing he said hadn't already been stated before and by Cowboys fans.

Bookmakers have been swamped with bets suggesting the Cowboys' Graham Murray is about to become the first NRL coach sacked in 2008. It's a time-honoured formula that the best form guide you can ever find on a racetrack is to follow the money. The smart money could be right on the mark with this tip as well.

Correct gus.

No one could blame the North Queensland management if they decide to end their association with Murray very soon. The Cowboys have already told the coach he is not wanted beyond this season. They've already signed his replacement for next year.

Correct gus.

For all concerned it's probably best they bite the bullet and end this thing quickly, rather than allow their mediocre team performances to drag on any longer.

Correct gus.

Telling a coach before a season starts that he is unwanted beyond the current year almost always leads to a poor season. Appointing a new coach to take his place before the current season ends only exacerbates an already untenable situation.

In the cowboys current situation, correct gus.

I can't believe Murray would want to continue working at the Cowboys under these circumstances. The losses are not looking good on his record and he must feel frustrated he has so little control over his team's results. Murray is no doubt holding on to collect the contract moneys to which he is entitled. The Cowboys should do the right thing, pay the man his dosh and let the suffering end. Then everyone can get on with their lives.

Correct gus.

No one likes to see people lose their jobs and it is always hard for any management to have to end someone's tenure before it is due. But the Cowboys' management is responsible for the club's future. No one person is bigger than the club; the club must always come first.

Correct again gus.

Roosters chairman Nick Politis has a lot of sayings. One of his best is: "Losing is bad for business."

Correct gus.

He's 100 per cent right. Losing is very bad for business. In this day and age, when clubs rely on gate takings and sponsorship to help balance the books, it is imperative your team is winning and demanding its fair share of viewing time on free-to-air television.

The Cowboys are in a rut. They're back in second-last position and, for a club with such a talented roster of players, this is an unacceptable situation. It is highly unlikely this coach can resurrect the Cowboys' fortunes this season. Once a coach has lost his players he rarely wins them back.

Correct gus.

The first indication that players are not committed to their coach is in the team's attitude to defence. The Cowboys have been poor in this area for the last 15 months and their last three losses have shown up some alarming defensive lapses.

Jeeeeesus, gus is correct again.

Their management is probably aware such a decision would attract stinging criticism from sections of the media who have been staunch Murray supporters over the years.

However, they should never underestimate the intelligence of the public, who really do see through these juvenile campaigns.

First part correct, scond part I cannot agree with that, I lived in Townsville for 4 years.

Gee, if I worried about what was said in the Daily Astonisher, I'd never say or write a thing! I can assure you that will never happen. Anyway, the North Queensland Cowboys are a great rugby league club. They are also too important to the success of the NRL for them not to be performing at their best.

Corret gus.

They need to act now to stop the bleeding and get themselves back on track.

100% correct, and the clubs actions back up this article 100%. Yeah gus is really giving it to Murray oin that article. FMD :lol::lol:

By the club taking the action they have. Just admit he is correct. No because he did not comment about the cows winning the next 10 spoons. Are you sure you actually understand english ?

Read the article again.
